Ello everyone, I have a slight problem with my new application of Exo V2.

To start, I applied exo v2 after careful washing, claying and an application of their chemical prep spray. I applied 2 coats of exo, as close to 20 minutes apart as possible. I did not apply any glazes or polishes before application of exo v2, or afterwords. I also have not used any QD or waterless wash on it until now. (2 weeks after application) I allowed 3-ish days of curing time before the rain hit, after which it rained almost daily for a week. I know that exo v2 is supposed to be cured after 48 hours (which I exceeded), but could it be a problem that it consistently was exposed to rain so much afterwords?

My problem is that I now notice waterspotting pretty much everywhere on my paint. This is only noticeable in the light when I am quick detailing or waterless-washing. By the time I reach the dry side of my towel and dry the paint, it dries slick and the waterspots disappear. I have never noticed waterspots like these before in all the time I have owned the car. If you would like, I can try to get pictures of it later today or tomorrow. The problem is, the waterspotting disappears too fast to take good pictures as my QD flashes over.

Could it be that Exo v2 was "washed away" due to the excess of rain so shortly after curing and my paint is essentially unprotected? Could it be something else?

The paint still beads far better than it ever did with any other sealant/wax that I've used before which leads me to believe that Exo is still there. I'm just scratching my head at these waterspots. If need be, I may be starting over to get rid of these water spots and to apply BFWD for the winter. I want to like Exo, but so far it has not been too great. =/

What can you suggest?

If its still beading like crazy I cant imagine its gone. Is it possible the waterspots are underneath the coating?

hmm I applied EXOv2 on my car on Sunday. It saw rain the next day about 15hrs after application and I have zero water spots on my car. It beaded like crazy and cleaned right up. you only need to let it cure for 3hrs before it can get wet. try some Duragloss waterspot remover..works VERY good and it wont mess with the coating as it has hard time to even mess with most waxes. Where are you at in PA

Did you completely remove all water spots prior to applicarion of coating? By that I mean machine polishing...

I'll accept the possibility that the spots are underneath the coating, it's just that I never noticed them before. =O I have never fully corrected this paint, although I never really needed to. It only has very minor swirls, and I have inspected it and never saw these spots before.

Could it be that the Exo is simply exaggerating them and making them noticeable somehow? Maybe standard waxes and sealants never made them visible for me.

Thanks for the help so far, I'm open to all ideas!

@SlowWRX, I haven't tried that Duragloss product yet. Any idea how it works? If the spots are under the coating, how might it work?

if they are under the coating. I dont think it will work but I have never tried that way. I think if they are under the coating you may have to polish the car to remove them and thus remove the EXO at the same tim

you really should have inspected the paint first. Its likely that the EXO is amplifying the waterspots. Whatever wax or sealant you had on the paint prior , likely did a very good job of masking the water spots.

But like all silica and resin coatings , waterspotting is the downfall. Dont even attempt opti-coat if you live in an area with hardwater being an issue. god that coating is a nightmare. even rain water will etch the crap out of the coating.

This is why I believe that CarPro has the most well rounded product line. They offer polymer products to top off the coating that do an excellent job of fighting off waterspots from staining the top coat. Reload and or Hydro2 are amazing for this exact purpose. and they will bond to the coating and wont just evaporate like a wax will.

You can use Optimum car wax on top of opti-coat but the beading and longevity is rather poor.

Atleast with reload , beading is insane like the coating itself. and it has staying power. Just be sure to dilute it if using on black paint.
