Waxing before rain?

Is it ok to wax a day before rain?

I just got some CG xxx paste wax that I'm dying to try out.

I have Friday-Sunday off work, was going to do it Friday, but supposed to rain sat-sun.

I know it's a carnauba wax, so will the "shine" and durability be tarnished if it rains the next day?

I was thinking of putting another layer on after the rain goes away.

Thoughts? Opinions?
 
Nope - wax is hydrophobic, therefore you'll just get to experience the awesome beading effect quicker than most :)

Your wax will still last you several weeks or a couple of months regardless of if it gets rained on shortly after application.
 
What ^ said. XXX has a very small cure time so there is no need to worry about the rain. Also, I would just apply it, wait 30 minutes, and apply a second coat. that way you don't have to clean the surface again and you will have the best look and you will have the peace of mind knowing that your car is protected from the rain :xyxthumbs:

Ya I have a coat of collinite 476s on there right now.

I understand that the longevity of the CG XXX will be affected by the previous coat, which I want to keep.

I'll wash the car, (non stripping shampoo) then wax it, and coat it with two layers of xxx.

Sounds about right?
 
Make sure you do the plastic baggie test to see if the car needs to be clayed or not, but other than that you are spot on.
 
Its fine. I've actually waxed in rain. It was a wax that you use a wet applicator for (NaviWax). I'm crazy though.

If you need to clay...then clay.

If you then need to polish (which is what I always do after claying)...then polish.

Upon reaching the state of where you are satisfied with your polishing efforts...
Apply your choice(s) of LSP(s).

If claying is not to be performed at this time...
Then go right ahead and apply the xxx to the clean paint, if you so desire.

Either way...make sure to:
Set aside the time to take a few photos of the soon to be forthcoming rain-water beads.

Thanks for the tips!!

I did a two step a few months ago, and used 476s as my LSP. Now I just wanted to use XXX for a "topper" to add some "bling" lol.

I'll try to take some b/a pics and post them up if I can remember 😛
