What is the best way to get the best results , waxing by hand or using a machine ? I have never used a polisher but am thinking about buying one if there is a big difference !?! I'm just your average detailer for my daily drivers .

If you can get a DA then wax with a DA. Once you do, you will never wax by hand again. The only time I use my hands is areas that the DA can't go, which is just a little area.
 
The result for wax job is the same. It’s just a lot less work to get it done by machine.
 
Speed and even application go to machine.

There is something about putting wax on my paint with my hands/applicator that just feels right. The machine application kinda loses something, I think it's adding that last step by hand that gives me satisfaction.

I don't want to give all the credit for the perfect paint to a "machine." Even though the Machine gives our paint that flawless look to lay the wax onto.

AGREED!

For example, I love laying down M26 by hand. There's just something about it.
 
Applying the wax with a DA will lay it down more smoothly and provide even coverage over the whole car. However and even bigger advantage for having a polisher is the ability to mechanically polish the paint before the wax is applied. The real way to get a beautiful vehicle is perfecting the paint before the wax is applied and polishing by hand won't come close to the same results.
 
DA is worth the money. Hand waxing 50 years later just isn't the same for these worn out arms. But I remember when...holding the yellow simoniz can in one hand and ...

Mine was Turtle Wax!....I remember those days too! Additionally, I had a FULL head of hair....today....not so much!....LOL
