WaxyClean a UK detail supplier re-uploaded my jeweling video and put it on their sales website for the Gtechniq P2 Polish. Should I be flattered or ticked off

At least they left your "name" in the video opening. I'm not too computer literate about being able to use a edit software and take that part out or not.

Did they use it without your consent or you gave them permission?

I was googling Gtechniq trying to find out if P2 was bodyshop safe (I just shot some paint) and stumbled across it lol

Then its a form of infringement, you can either inform them to compensate you, take it down, or file a lawsuit. But I'm no lawyer, so it would be best to ask yours.

Naw it doesn't bother me at all, to be honest I find it amusing. Maybe it will help our detailing brothers across the pond. Maybe I ought to comment on "their" YT vid "dam that guy has a great technique, you should give him a raise" :D

Due to the fact you aren't too upset...Maybe just a note to them asking for an explanation on why they used your video without contacting you first.

As we all say here, "The least aggressive first."

you should definitely write them an email along the lines of.

"i stumbled across your website, and found my video, i appreciate the flattery that you would want to use my videos, but i would appreciate an email asking for its use first"

and maybe you can get on good terms and if they like your demo video so much you could have them send you some compensation to do some more videos on product demos or technique demonstrations

OP isn't mad and it isn't much of a big deal for several reasons

1) The video isn't a detailer showing the work done in the video, and claiming it to be his own
2) The website is a car supply website, they are just trying to show that if the product is correctly used, you can achieve the results in the video (which is a compliment)
and 3) if you post your video on youtube for the world to see, you should not be against someone using it or saving it...if that was the case, then don't post videos up

for example; if I posted a video of me showing the proper way to use a 2-bucket technique, there isn't anything wrong with some random person who did not ask me, to post a video to educate others..

and most importantly, OP didn't care but rather found it funny

Personally I would not mind at all. The only situation where this would bother me would be if one of my competitors used it.

This is the internet. When designing a website it saves a lot of time to simply seach for content that represents your idea instead of grabbing a camera and shooting new content and the result is the same.
