Earlier this week, we made the choice to move to TX. I am a network engineer and i have worked for Sprint/Nextel since 2002, but in the wireless industry things change quite a bit. I finally got tired of all the unknowns and ups and downs. So i am making a career change into the oil and gas industry.

I will also be doing a lot more detailing. I have a few friends that do custom builds for SEMA. If you follow SEMA you will remember the lifted jeep that rearended the libertwalk ferrari 458. That just was built by my friend. He has 15 builds this year to get ready for SEMA and he wants me to detail them all for him.

My other friend also does the same thing builds one off lifted trucks and does ground up resto-mods.

They plan on keeping me busy for a while.

We are really looking forward to the move

Congrats and good luck with the move. I have some friends that are in IT for Sprint in KC. They also talk about the uncertainty, especially with the new CEO.

Best wishes, based on what I've learned of you here, your work ethic has and always will carry you far.

Thanks guys, the future at sprint is very uncertain, that is why i am getting out while i am still ahead

I wish you all the best with the move. I am looking forward to pictures of the SEMA vehicle details.

Good luck with the move. Been living here in Houston for all my life.

Good luck with the big move. Sounds like a great move all around.

I'll be sure to contact you for SEMA tix next year.

Congrats on the move. Sounds exciting! Besides the SEMA projects are you planning on doing any other detailing and marketing to new clients. Or is your time pretty limited due to the full-time job?

I ask because I'm moving my business from Seattle WA to Bend OR this spring and love hearing how other guys have been successful at such moves and tips that they might have.

You've got a really good reputation on here; I'm sure that if you want to detail in the location, the business will be there for you. Good luck with everything!

I will be pretty limited to what i work on, but i have my brother's and nephew to work on other customer vehicles. They dont do much correction work mostly production, but that is what pays the bills.

Best of luck to you Vargas. Sounds like a good idea to hit the reset button.

Are you totally stepping away from IT? I'm sure you can easily find another job as an network engineer at several other companies...Best wishes on your new endeavor!

Thank you. I am doing an IT related job for an oil services company, something completely new for the oilfield.
