Hey all I have a grappling tournament this sunday and I had to cut 12 lbs in one week. This morning was the weigh in...

Made it at 150.6
My weight class is at 150 but there's a pound allowance.

Last night and this morning was freaking terrible in the sauna room with the sauna suit and sweats beanie and a hoodie over. Go in the tub with sea salt and boiling water.
Then this morning riding to the weigh in (thankx to my amazing gf) heater full blast and trash bags to loose those last couple pounds. Im glad its over and im just gonna chill today.

lol

Don't think that would be very effective for long term fat loss. I am impressed with the amount of water weight the OP lost for the weigh in. Two to three lbs a week is a healthy weight loss except for those that are obese. They tend to shed the lbs rapidly until they hit a plateau.

Started my spring/summer cut the first of March. Dropped the calories slowly from 2500 to 2000 and added an extra day of cardio to 4 days and lifting 3 days a week. I'm eating the same foods just cutting down the portion sizes. The key is to weigh everything you consume calorie wise. Foods like peanut butter that are very calorie dense it's almost impossible to guess the serving sizes (33g/tablespoon)

171.6 lbs down to 160.2 in 31 days.

EatSmart Scale I love this thing! I'd be like a yo yo without it

333g = 366cal with 3.3g fat and a whopping 76.6 grams of protein :xyxthumbs:

When you get old like me your metabolism will slow down and you'll get fat like I was hahaha :hungry:

Summer of 2010 I was 210 at 5' 11" with the classic beer gut. I said enough and started working out eating right. Went from the 210 down to 153 lbs. Over this winter I started adding more calories to build more muscle while lifting and gained a little fat along the way. I may lose a few more but I'm about where I want to be. I'll up the cals just a bit, drop a cardio day and adjust when needed to maintain. I feel great... ever see a 55 year old with a 6pk

BTW good luck on Sunday also!

I bet it must suck cutting weight. I cut weight once for a weight lost contest at work lost about 7lbs in 24hrs..lol. but i see what all MMA fighters and boxers go tru. I use to weight 240lbs. Down to 185lbs. Goal is 175lbs

Good luck on Sunday, don't get dehydrated during the tournament.

powerlifting has helped me. im 5'11 205 lbs about 13% body fat. 205lbs with a clearly visable 6 pack. Ofcoarse this is gained over a very long coarse of time.

Hmm im listening. Whats the best way to get in shape?

I'm probably not the best to ask then. I recently lost a lot of weight, but getting me to a gym is a different story. At least people will know what to give you tips on now.

The real key is healthy eating. 80% diet / 20% exercise. I learned the hard way. Wasting my time at the gym without changing my eating habits. Not till i changed my diet did I see results

This. My personal trainer taught me the same. Abs are made in the kitchen he says. The gym is the fun part of getting fit.

I did p90x for about 1 month. Then one morning I started getting a heavy chest couldn't breathe real good at all . This went on for about 3 days then I was like I need to go to the hospital . So I went I told the dr i was having chest pain and suffering. Lil did I know that if you go to the er with chest pain then they take that as high risk for chance of a heart attack. So the wheeld me back to a room in a wheel chair . Hooked me up to heart monitors and iv fluids. Monitored me for about 4 hours . They found nothing wronge with my heart . Asked what kind of activities I've been doing and I said I ve been doing p90x . So they looked some more and found that I had pulled a chest muscle . And that was what was making me short of breath and having chest pain . Never started p90x agin . It is a great work out and tuff . I guess I just went to hard or wronge techniques. Lol

I have done Insanity. I think its way harder than P90X. Insanity is all cardio. Killer workouts. P90X helps build muscle. I just go lift weights and do Insanity for cardio
