Polishing my friends car today, and I left the Griots 6" I got for christmas out. My mom came home and didn't realize it was there and you can kind of guess the rest. Called Griots to see if they could replace the broken part at cost, but unfortunately they cannot. Looks like I'll be in the market for a flex...sucks I really loved my Griots...get some pics up in a bit.

BTW it's only 3-4 months old, thought it'd be somewhat warrantied....guess not.

Sorry to hear that.
My dad was a real stickler for making us pick up after ourselves. To teach me and my brother a lesson he once took all the toys we had let out on the front steps and in the living room, put them in a trash bag and hid them from us for a month.

I never leave things out any more and now I'm getting after my son when he does it.

It should be under warranty from your Mom who ran over it !

I'm not making my mom pay for something I was careless about regarding it's placement.

Did you really think that it would be covered after being run over by a car???

Considering Griots allows a 180 day grace period for full refunds, and a lifetime warranty there after I thought the bottom black plastic piece would be under some sort of warranty or be replaceable free or at some sort of cost. The machine is still in great shape just the bottom piece is cracked/broken...sorry for typing something so far fetched for you eyes lol....

I'm 21, and far from irresponsible with my stuff. I may not be a grown man, but my father is/was very similar to yours....Just was a bit worn out and my moms typically at work...she stayed home due to a soar throat and was at the doctors-I wasn't aware...was gonna clean up before she returned home, but wasn't expecting her so early..oh well..

JonM,

Do you really expect the warranty to cover abuse?

Are you saying the unit is in good shape other than a broken piece and Griots will not repair or replace the part under any conditions? More specifically, they offer no means for repair? You can not pay for the part or repair?

To an extent, but if you read I clearly stated I'm 100% willing to pay. It's literally a $5 at most fix. Just checked at it still rotates fine. You guys will see what I mean when I post up the pic....the shipping would be more expensive than the part.

yes. exactly.

Did you talk to anyone at AG about this? Your first mention of this matter is after both places would be closed for the day.

On the bright side you'll be rolling with a FLex:)

No. They were closed I think when I called Griots so I figured I'd just try them directly. I'm truly surprised....I understand abuse isn't under warranty, but the broken piece is so miniscule...it's not like a whole new buffer is required.

I'm gonna see...gonna call Griots tomorrow and voice myself a bit harder now that I know the full extent of the damage and that the polisher still works. Not gonna buy a whole new buffer when this one still works...but the flex is quite an appealing piece of equipment Im the MAN

heck I would just get a rotary then.... but sorry about the crack! Hopefully Griots will be able to pull a $1 piece your way!

Makita would be nice, but getting this repaired would be also. We'll see

As you guys could see I got very lucky with the placement, though it was an unlucky situation to begin with.

They won't replace that simple piece of plastic even at your cost? I guess I'm not buying a Griot's ROP. I hope they are looking at this thread too.

According to lady on the phone, no they won't....

In my opinion it's ridiculous, and I'm glad someone agrees.... Now you guys see why I thought for some crazy reason this $3 piece of plastic housing may be under warranty

I'm hoping to buy a DA machine in the next week or two, and was leaning heavily towards the GG. I may have to reconsider that if they really say that is not repairable (at your cost obviously). Good luck and let us know what happens.
