I have a great client with a 2016 Cadillac on xo luxury wheels 22s with a stainless steel lip. I am not too sure what happened as he does take it through car washes every now and then. The lips look like they have a chemical burn or spotting or like dullness with splotches. The stainless used to look chrome when he got them now they look like ####. Like something left on the wheels too long. I have been researching how to get this off for him. #0000 steel wool comes up often as well as copper-glo.

I tried a white white pad and some m205 by hand and it did improve a spot but it took a while and a lot of rubbing.

Whats the the best way to attack this problem?

Thanks guys!!!

Pics would be helpful. Are they clear coated? I'd give a call to the manufacturer and see what they say.

I didn't get to take any pictures, should probably call them and ask if clear coated. It made the shiney lip dull and corroded looking with blotches and spots. Almost like a acid ate the layer. I use iron-x for wheel cleaning and made the mistake of not looking at them before I washed it. Guy is my neighbor though so we're all good on that aspect.

I've been thinking of picking up some bronze wool and metal polish and go by hand. My pc is too big to fit on the lip so will all be done by hand.

Whatever you do make sure you document the before condition with photos and a VIF

Last think you want is being blamed for the damage, even if it's a long time customer these things happen.

I would call manufacturer and see what they recommend. I'm sure this person took the car through the wash joints where they spray acid all over the wheels. Or they sprayed wheel cleaner themselves before a big event to clean them and did a hack job.

Bronze wool and some flitz I think I can get it off especially with the movement with just a white hand pad and m205. Any other tips would be helpful. I do a vif with customers but usually skip out with the neighbors they're all pretty regular.
