Just rewatched the video on the APP stuff I got from DIY and this time I noticed I can’t use a flat pad. Don’t have any non-flat. Don’t have their panel prep. Afraid I’m not going to be able to use the coating Guz sent me. Guess I’m going to have to guy buy a coating. Sick of all these requirements to use the DIY stuff.

The video said there’s too much friction and it would set the stuff in the polish*. I wonder if I took a dremel to a flat finishing pad? Was planning on doing it huge next two days while the weather’s supposed to be good. Already took the fender flares off.

*Same reason you have to use a low throw da

Well I've never used any DiY detailing stuff, but I'm sure they recommend THEIR waffle pads that were specifically designed for the application of whatever it is you're needing it for.

I would try and find some videos of what you're doing and see if any of them use flat pads.. or wait to see what someone who has experience with it has to say.

The product doesn't know if you're using a short throw DA or a flat pad, waffle pad, microfiber pad, etc... if it's heat thats the problem then use a lower speed on the polisher... but I don't know that much.. just what I figure.

so far, no videos that I’ve seen use anything but their pad. I think it’s less about ‘their’ pad and more about using a waffle pad.

I think a lot of companies go overboard with their recommendations/instructions. Of course they are going to say to use their products, not only because they want you to buy them, but also because testing of the product occurred under specific conditions. However, that doesn't mean everything will be a total disaster if you don't do it exactly the same way the company recommends.

I think panel prep is a good example. I almost exclusively use Eraser, but did use Prep a few times as well. None of the 4~5 coatings I applied from at least 4 different vendors and never experienced any issues.

In this instance, I'd match the process they recommend to the tools/products you have on hand (or like to use), and see how it goes.

The C6 line is ridiculous. You can get around 6 bottles of Carpro's UK for the combined price of C6 "Light" and the APP. And now i read they recommend only a waffle pad. What a bunch of bull.

I don't trust DIY or Clean personally.

With C6 i believe Yyan is ripping people off big time. I'm suprised people are even ponying up that kind of money for a coating with so many options out there. Its thier money but i feel they are being played by a very good con man who doesn't seem to have a conscience. Even Pan seems to have one of them.

His new polishers will be interesting. They like look crap but Eddie is pushing them hard now.

I do have to say Yvan is ready with answers I’ve asked. I probably could have done it with what I had but wanted to give the coating it;s best chance. I’m looking to simplify my kit for myself. Right now I’ve Carpro on one car, Gyeon on another, and now DIY. And I’ve got the full ‘kit’ for the first two. That’s not counting using up my OPT stuff on the old convertible.
