I've got some scuff marks on my clear bra from hitting a concrete pole base. Do you think that this can be wetsanded and polished with M105? Has anybody wetsanded clear bra?

Thanks!

I would say no you can't...it's basically a vinyl and if your sand it your not going to be able to polish them out. Plus if you do M105 on it you are going to cause some good heat build up...which is never good on something like a vinyl decal, sticker, or in this case a clear bra. Just my personal thoughts. I've never attempted it and usually tell my customers that they will need either the section replaced or the whole thing. I don't do much with clear bras other than cleaning them and maybe hitting them with some M205 and a very light cut pad.

I've personally never tried it for that exact reason.

Yea wet sanding is a no. It just won't work. It will need to be replaced. But that is what they are for. They get beat and scratched and then you just replace them for a new one for a few hundred and it saved you a lot since you didn't have to repaint your car :)

You can't do anything for a clear bra. This is why I'm not a fan of them on anything other than the bumper. They haze and swirl and yellow and cloud and there is nothing you can do about it. Sure you might get one that has a "lifetime warranty" and they will replace it if it ever fades or yellows or bubbles, but who has time to get their clearbra redone every year? I would probably get one on my bumper, but never on my hood. Rockchips I can fix. Clear bra I cannot fix. :(

Clear bras/Paint Protection Film have different manufacturers. The best PPF cleaners and sealants (waxes) I have found are the ones supplied by XPel Technology Corp. and Premier PPF International (their PF1-TTR PPF cleaner product works great on track- day rubber and cone scuffs). If you want to contact them, they'll give you their expert advise on the removal (if possible) of your scuffs . Either that, or, if you know the specific brand/generation/installer of your clear bra, contact them. Most PPF manufacturers recommended to not use solvents, polishes/waxes with naptha/kerosene, or Plexus.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I guess I'll stay away from wetsanding my clear bra!

That's great!

{May I also suggest to stay away from concrete pole bases.} J/K :D

LOL!! That's awesome!

Yeah I'm trying too. I didn't see this pole because it was so low... But it's not an excuse because I should have seen the actual light pole hahaha!

Or even rubbing alcohol. I was told to try it as a last resort if a scrape or scratch won't come out. I think it softens or borderline melts the bra a bit.

I have wet sanded and polished a 3M clear bra back to new. Used 3M 2000 grit and sanded by hand with soapy water. Followed with Flex 3401 and PC7424 orange pad and some 3M scratch X, then Wolfgangs 3.0 swirl remover, and then Wolfgangs finishing glaze, followed by your favorite wax.

Quick Edit, see what you can get of with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser 1st.

Many PPF films CAN be buffed out and some can not. You can test a piece and see. The best product for buffing is the polishing pads using 3M 06064 and 3M 06068. Also some use meguiars #9.

For removing slight marks - Zymol cleaner/wax - there are others however again film specific.

There are also various techniques to remove scratches from the films. They are specific to the film cause there are various top coats and some are softer than others.

Some films you no NOT want to use IPA on the top coat. :props:
