I was contacted the other day by a local Harley dealer to wet-sand and buff black matte paint and restore the original finish. Here's a quick picture of the gas tank. I'll post more before and afters when complete...
 
I am interested to see what can be done about this... Traditionally, matte doesn't get buffed at all. BUMP
 
The previous owner painted the matte over the original gloss black finish.
 
Here's a few more pics of the finished tank. This is after wet-sanding, compounding and polishing. I still have two side plates and both fenders to go.

Can't believe how bad the previous owner butchered those tins. Somebody needs to introduce him to Plasti dip.
 
I suspect you just earned yourself a bit of repeat business. Nice!
 
Thanks! The hard part was wet-sanding off the flat paint because it turned milky white just like clear coat, so you don't know if your still on the flat paint or the original clear.
