Wet sanding.. will this Da polisher work?

Hi guys,

I've just had my car re sprayed and had the painter add 3 coats of clear coat so I can wet sand after.

I have been offered a Das6 pro plus to do this. My question is will this be right for the job. I've searched the net a lot looking info and people seem to say that any more than 8-10mm throw will be hard to use.

This machine has 15mm which is making me unsure where it is suitable.

I don't think it will be hard to use but be careful as it may remove a lot of paint very fast.

IF you decide to use this tool then stick with high quality sanding discs from Meguiar's, 3M and/or Mirka. We carry all of these brands here at AG.


There's a 8mm version by that same company I think, that would be an easier and safer tool to use.

I teach using the PC, Griot's and Megs 8mm DA Polishers in my class on hand and machine sanding. They work great.

thanks mike for the info. Ive decided to go for one of the other type either a das6 500w or 900w.

Firstly would 500W be enough to do this job comfortably or would I be better going for 900W.

I will supplier images later today of the paint condition. I'm wondering whether I can use 3000-5000 grit or a velvet orange peel removal pad to decrease the orange peel instead of going 1500-3000-5000.

is this possible of do I really need to start 1500?
