I got into cordless with the 3" SPTA and loved the convenience. I started watching for a 5" thinking maybe around Black Friday. Two weekends ago PCC put the Shinemate 15mm 5" cordless with batteries/charger on sale and couldn't resist. I've not yet been able to use it but the quality looks solid. The feel is nice. There's a bit of a cult following on Shinemate but the general consensus I've seen in a similar price point is that the Milwaukee line is another solid one for the cost. The complaint I saw with Milwaukee was weight and the only complaint I've seen with Shinemate was stall (limited mention of this). I can't verify either at the moment.

The Rupes and Flex are a level up and I just couldn't justify the price as a hobbyist.

For corded - I'm loving my $100 forced rotation Hercules DA. For some reason, I kind of like the "pushback" with forced rotation. I can't explain it really but it's quick and efficient.

I'm guessing a forced rotation cordless would be the sweet spot if budget is not a concern.

It depends on what you’re looking for. Forced rotation rotates and orbit is forced or gear driven. In a Free spinning dual action polisher the motors orbits the pad while inertia keeps it spinning. This can cause stalling with improper technique or protruding body lines.

Not a big of deal as it sounds. Was easy for me to learn and I bought a 15mm long throw and was 1st polisher I used.

Free spinning (Rupes) will be smoother, safer a better polishing “experience”

The forced rotation (flex) is said to be more aggressive on the body. Benefit is it gets work done faster. Also spins opposite of most polishers. I’d use to one way it can “walk” away from you.

I went with the flex as I think most of those things over stated. Not doing this as work and just my cars.

Haven’t used it yet but have switch to cordless.

Flex forced rotation, PiXiE and Rupes HLR75.

I think it's less monitored overall. I've seen some without (any known) repercussion.

Seems Rupes never really upped the cordless game. I would consider the shinemate or milwakee if your looking for free spinning tools.

Shinemate make solid tools i have there mini rotary. The 620 corded line are supposely a lot more powerful than the Rupes Mark 3.

The rupes is very quiet however if that's your thing.

i already had the Milwaukee and took it back as it felt cheap and stalled alot
looking at the shinemate and the new flex

Well you probably should get a forced rotation or a corded free spinning tool.
I know he started by talking cordless but since you mentioned the Shinemate 620 series I can attest that they are next to impossible to stall out if you have even the just slightest bit of good technique

I replaced a Rupes 15mm Legacy with the 620-15 and they aren't even in the same league, not even close

All Shinemate just happens to be 20% off again at Parks Car Care.

Does Parks hold exclusive retail right to Shinmate?
They are the only retailer I can find on the internet...

Parks is the US distributor of the NV brand, which is the house brand of Waxit in Australia. The ShineMate brand is exclusive to Waxit and from what I can gather, is another housebrand for them. So I would guess the Waxit/NV connection plays out with ShineMate too.

I really don't get into those details. I just try to provide discounts I know about if I see anyone looking. There's a social media group dedicated to deals so I try to share if relevant.

Carzilla is another I believe for those up north (or anyone able to leverage the free s&h)

I also know Koch Chemie has some Black Friday Flex deals right now but I think there's a lot of Flex deals overall with their new lineup coming out.

Parks doesn't ship up here, I tried ordering some Shinemate pads a while back after Carzilla stopped their free shipping to Alaska

I have 3 Shinemate polishers and a lot of their pads and I am cranky about the corner I have kind of painted myself into by adopting their ecosystem

Obviously I have other choices in pads but I have gotten used to Shinemate pads and I like them as much or more than any Lake City, Rupes, or Buff and Shine I have ever tried, with the exception of Rupes Yellow Wool

I just checked prices. Right now Carzilla is about $40 cheaper than Parks since you don't pay tax or shipping at that price point.
