what did everyone think? empty promises or not?

So happy its over. He's a great speaker.. but not a fan of his politics. I was so excited for Parenthood tonight also.

"We are a nation with no money" I can't stand the guy...

What's really annoying is that they are doing a live review of the speech that was literally just on as if no one watched it.

according to Prez, Iraq is "fixed" (his words, not mine). ok, so get our people out of that damned desert already!

No one can fix the mess in 2 years what the previous administration left.

National Debt went through the roof and the economy was already on a downturn.
Don't forget the Wall Street fiasco. GM was left for the next administration to clean up per #### Chenney.

Capital Hill has a lot of old school self serving politicians that want to make a career out of doing nothing for the American people. Flush them for more progressive ideas and thinkers.

Term Limits of 8-10 years max Senators and Reps would fix a lot of the dread lock on the Hill and bring the power back to the people.

Letting big business ship off jobs to the Far East to generate further profits/big bonuses for upper management doesn't help local jobs and our economy.

Toss the lobbyests out on the street would be a good start.

I'm going to bed now, but can only wonder what becomes of this thread by morning. Its liable to get crazier then a junebug on a bullfrogs back

You boys and girls behave now, hear :dig:

I'm in Mexico so I haven't heard it. What I can tell you is I do not believe or trust any politician on this planet.

Politicians no longer represent the will or opinion of the people, they have merely been elected into a particular country club, sort of like the show; Lifestyles of Rich and the Shameless. Brought to you by and paid for by the tax payers, you know, what's left of the working class.

What greatly disturbs me is how politicians and big business have become joined at the hip raping this couinty and the American worker only to line their pockets. The Government of the United States is there to watch over its citizens and protect our way of life.

Politicians take the oath to pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored – particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. Does "We The People" ring a bell?

This oath has become nothing more than a prerequisite this exclusive club and the very oath they took has been forgotten. Our freedoms and rights as Americans are continuously being attacked from within.

You want to get elected; Be ascetically pleasing, dress well, speak well, articulate and handle yourself well in front of people.... Make promises that you can't possibly keep. Sell yourself and your dream, the majority of people want to dream because reality bothers them.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probable isn't.

Remember I haven't seen this address but I have witnessed life and what's been happening to the United States of America over the past 50 years. The most successful and most powerful nation in the world reduced to the brink of economic disaster. Have you ever tried to borrow yourself out of debt?

A generation not too far in the distant past was coined "The Greatest Generation" and for good reason. They believed in and died to protect and ensure our way of life for generations to come.

This generation, if it would ever be coined, will go down in history as "The Greediest Generation...........

Talk is cheap.Until he makes good on his election promises such as no special interest groups, more transparency and start holding the banks and big bussiness accountable i don't want to hear it!:nomore:

He is a great speaker, but he's also a figurehead. How much power do you guys really think he has? Not much...

I'm with Bobby, I distrust all politicians, but if I knew them personally, I know I would feel differently about them.

I don't trust politicians. I say throw the whole bunch out and let's put some leaders into office! The only thing the government knows or cares about "We the People" is that "We the People" have the money they want and need to carry out all their little pet projects and parties. They don't have to live like the average middle class American. It's time to show Washington who's the boss - the people who put these SOB's into office!

Just like every president hes the muppet. He has no control of what happens with this country, we all know all the wig heads in DC are the ones that run this show and decide what goes on. Im sure the founding fathers would not believe what this government has turned into...

There a couple of things that could be done to help.

Neither stands a snowballs chance in hell of even being talked about.

1)Make public employees unions illegal.

2)Make all public employees and elected officials retirements not only taxable, but they can only collect one. Our governor here in California (Moonbeam) will be collecting four different pensions when he is finished destroying my state this time. $417,000.00 per year. And he's not worth one thin dime.

WOW! I normally don't comment on this topic on a Detailing site, although I do read the comments. Which in my opinion are racially motivated. But I appreciate honesty no matter where or who it comes from. You hit the Bulls Eye.

I agree with this posting agreeing with with the post above it.

I really believe this nation is just short of another revolution. Eventually the people are going to realize that the only one to solve there problems is to take them into their own hands. Since they can not vote some of these standing Senators, Congressmen, Czars:laughing:, Admin Officals, etc out of there positions, they will remove them by other means. I mean hell, most people can not grasp that they Government is taking more freedoms when they can and then asking the people to put more blind freedom into there hands and they will fix everyones problems. Hell it really makes you think..."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson.

Granted this may be slightly more out there than what others think...but hell, at the rate this nation is spiriling, anything is possible. Maybe the Mayans were right, 2012 is going to suck, that they did not care to continue past there.
