What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

We ran some errands this morning and I decided to get some discounted Bears gameday gas ($4.21 for Shell V-Power) and all ran it through the touch-free wash

The more common term is likely coating prep.
So can you explain how you are using your UDM with a coating prep? Are you talking about an IPA-based prep wipe? Or are you talking about a polishing step prior to sealant application?

Added a charging valve to my new IK Pro foam sprayer which i recently acquired. Its just a Pro Foam 2 and not the Pro Foam 2 Pro Plus so it didnt come with a built in charging valve.

Marked the spot i wanted to place the valve with a spring loaded punch to create a divit.

Then drilled a small pilot hole.

Then drilled a 29/64 hole to accept the valve.

Deburred the hole with an exato knife. After that applied vasoline to the area of the valve where it will sit in the hole. Fed the valve into the hole and attached a valve stem tool to the valve to pull the valve into place.

It is necessary to use a 1 inch valve stem as opposed to the more popular 1 & 1/4 inch valve stem as the 1 & 1/4 inch stem wont clear the handle when removing and replacing the top of the sprayer.

All done. Was about a ten minute job.

Curious as to why you didn't drill the top, I believe the OEM Schrader location is on the opposite side from the relief valve.

It will not work in the Pro Foam 2 Plus postion as the underside of the sprayer top has a kind of honeycomb structure to it. The Pro Foam 2 Plus has the factory charging valve integrated into the top somehow.
I would rather have the charging valve integrated into the factory position but that wont work. So next best thing.

10-4.

PS I was too lazy to look at mine before, it comes without the valve installed, there's a (straight) threaded plug in there.

...then I got home, finished off my bottle of Labocosmetica Idrosave and did a GD method RW, now its clean

Having this garage is a Godsend, I'll win the fight against snow/salt/muck AND be mentally better for it since I love the process

I witnessed another tragedy at work. This Honda HRV belongs to a parent at my school and this damage was done within the first week of ownership. She goes through the auto-wash multiple times a week as evidenced by the cheap tire dressing that’s applied on top of her dirty tires that barely lasts half a day.

This was the damage done after the first wash and it keeps getting worse by the day. I don’t understand how people can’t see damage like this when I consider it to be painfully obvious. I cringe every time I see this vehicle.

Took the g/f's TAOS through the touch-free wash this evening but used Griot's Garage Foaming Surface Prep on the car and Koch Chemie Awh @5:1 on her tires & wheels, man was it SALTY

Wash day for the FJ, it was only lightly dirty, so I sort of foamed it with Reset in a not quite foam cannon that attaches to the garden hose, without rinsing I moved it inside and went straight into a 2B wash with Reset using the Reacher for all the main flat surfaces, and a noodle sponge for the fiddly trim bits, bullbar, and the wheels. Moved back out to rinse and quickly back in for drying. No drying aid, used 1 Liquid8r for the glass, another for the paint, and an old synthetic chamois for the trim, door jams, and wheels. Some people have to much money to care.

True, but this is not the case. I teach in the poorest school in my county so I know that’s not the issue but for some people a $25/month all you can eat scratch buffet at the local auto wash is a good deal.

With a garage now, do you see yourself keeping the touchless membership?

I mean it's so close to my work/home and it's like $1.00 a day, the underbody wash is worth it alone

Plus I wanna keep the TAOS maintained as well but rest assured, a touch-free wash when it's REALLY salty followed up by a quality RW will now allow me to take my car to new levels of clean 🤌🤌

After dinner I took the EN for a touch-free wash, kinda windy here today, so it was dusty! Once home I used Griot's Garage BOS detailer to spot dry the entire car, vac'd out the d/s floor mat, sprayed Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Redline Cherry scent inside and wiped down the tires & wheels with Bilt-Hamber quick detailer, oh yeah, Adam's In and Out spray for the wheelwells, that stuff is so nice AND smells great
