What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Well since the EN has been sitting clean since Friday night, I decided to apply something to the paint this morning, that product was ADS Phobics

I chose it for a number of reasons. The first reason is it's SO EASY to use, even emailed Brad yesterday about coolest temps to apply it, he said 40 was the lowest but 50 is where it comes into its own (my garage is in the upper 40's) so I'm good to go Next reason is how glossy it is, VERY noticeable️Lastly is it's shelf life once opened, 90 days so why not

Because it's on the lower end of the temps I let ADS Phobics set up a little longer but wipe off was still easy! Thing is you feel a little drag while wiping it off, normal right, but once wiped off the slickness was AWESOME, I mean it's really THAT impressive🤌🤌

Our winter started out like a lion but since then, it's been mild, 2 thaws already, so applying something strong and fresh right now is really nice, plus I'm able to do it in my garage, although I've still got my membership at The Bays Wheeling, probably taking the TAOS there next weekend and applying ADS Phobics to it as it "says" once opened it's good for 90 days, so right now it's almost at 30 days, so I wanna use it often as I can

I treated the windshield on FJ with Glaco chemical liquid super wiper, I do have some Nextzett Glass Sealant but I wanted to use Glaco as I'm very close to finishing it, and I wanted to compare it the two. I started by cleaning the outside with Angelwax Vision, then used Autoglym Glass Polish inside and out, so it was as clear as possible. Then I applied the Glaco with the built in applicator , wiped off with a damp MF, then buffed with a clean one.

On a side note, last nights rain, about 30mm, did a reasonable job of cleaning the paint, confirming the self cleaning ability of ADS CSS topped with Amplify, not perfect, but also no waterspots.PSX_20260112_181728.jpgPSX_20260112_181854.jpg

Love a chip free clean windscreen, The Camry can be a little hard due to the wide dash, but yours and mums VW look easy.

Side note: Took the VW in for it's 100,000km service timing belt/chain had to be done etc,etc The local dealership said $1800 and get this $85 to change out the headlights globe's because it's an hourly rate.

We took it to local guy that ONLY does VW Audi BMW Mercedes and Porsche, he did all the same work for $1300 and it took him 15 minutes to fit the new globes for free.

He completed my car detail that I did and the pollen filter that I chose a foam charcoal some what re usable one that's Australian made.

Does this count. I cleaned out a bin that is a Ziplock full bag of PW fittings. A good mix of 1/4 and 3/8, and probably a few myriad of M22. All the SAE are made in USA brass/plated ....when I replaced them with SS. I thought it would be nice to offer it up here as someone was willing to send me a label

Took the truck in for some service because the transmission was starting to act up then cleaned it up as soon as I got it back!

Tried DP Quick Coat. It is pretty good! It was a little bit of a pain ti take off but it could be of the humidity in the garage. I'll have to try again next wash. 20260111_140809.jpg

Touch Free Wash as in Touchless and Rinse ?

For years, I've searched and scoured for aiming for a true touchless wash.
I have like 7 Liters of crap still leftover when I was ordering stuff overseas, and probably just the same of like 7+ Liters of the Bilt still left over.
I think I'm giving up on this goal.

I choose LSP over a true touchless wash (aka, no surface film leftover)
Due to global XXX, winters are not what it used to be.
Dailys have been full wrapped for the last 3 leases. I find that any LSP bonding is weak on PPF- not as strong as on paint.
Touchless worked better than the overseas stuff that was being touted over at DW UK, but my LSP took a beating.

It only has 42k miles but it started shifting really rough and jerking when I put it in reverse.

It is the garbage 10 spd transmission that owners are trying to start class action lawsuit over.

I changed the transmission fluid and it is much smoother now. Lets see how long that lasts.

It's the touch-free drive thru wash near my work

Today I made this towel drying rack in a bit of unused space in my laundry room. Two ClosetMade closet rods and 4 ClosetMade wall brackets from Home Depot.

In the past after I washed a vehicle I would do a load immediately after finishing the vehicle wash. Everything went in one load. Couple drying towels, couple wash mitts, some rinseless only microfibers if i did a rinseless wash and if i applied a wax/sealant/drying aid those 3 or 4 microfibers that were saturated with LSPs. All in one load with a microfiber detergent. Just those towels were not a very big laundry load.
So as i result all my towels were getting a little hydrophobic.

With this drying rack my new laundry method will change. After the vehicle wash i will hang my drying towels, which going forward will not be used with drying aids, on the rack till they are dry. Then they will be thrown in that plastic 18 gallon bin which is below the rack.

At that same time i will put all my microfibers that were used with LSPs in a bucket to presoak with an APC. I will do a second bucket to presoak my wheel mitts.
After the presoak ill hand rinse them and hang them to dry on the now empty drying rack. Once dry they will be thrown in the 18 gallon bin.

What this will allow me to do is use all of my drying towels ( 10 or so) before i do a load just for those and then all my wax and sealant microfibers ( 25 or so ) before i do a load just for those. This will cut down on the number of loads i do in the washing machine by maybe 75%. Now those towels with LSPs will be getting a proper presoak which should help with them being hydrophobic and should stop my other towels from becoming cross contaminated.

My mitts will get hung to dry on my other drying rack after they get presoaked. Once dry they will get thrown in the 18 gallon bin as well till i go through all my wheel grade mitts which is 10 or so. Then they can be done in their own separate load as well. Not sure if the mitts need the presoak or just rinsed and dried as they will go through the machine with a microfiber detergent eventually.

Touch-free wash after work because it was 38 degrees...this weekend 21 and 19 for highs, night lows are single digits

I'm doing a GD RW tonight to even things out because the road was slightly damp, plus I wanna try that Koch Chemie adhesive remover on the Michelin X-Ice's

So I just finished part 2 of the FNW

I chose Koch Chemie Rrw tonight, only needing a light GD method as the EN was run through the touch-free wash. That said, what I really wanted to try was Koch Chemie Eu, based off of Deyon's glowing review and it DID NOT disappoint 🤌🤌

Now I've been keeping my tires clean using the touch-free wash and RW, simply by spraying, let dwell and just wipe off. Now I know this isn't best but it's what I'm able to do over the winter as I'm not sure when the EN goes back to The Bays Wheeling, the TAOS is next

That said, this stuff is strong, I wore a glove and used a designated mf towel, folded over 4x's and got the square evenly covered w/KC Eu. I went around each tire with 3 passes and once dry it was clean and bare, left 4 black spots on my designated mf towel

I finished up with a single, fresh coat of ADS Ghost, here's the pic afterwards, about 2 minutes later. I'll check it out tomorrow morning and see how it looks, may get a 2nd coat or may get a topper of ADS Tire+...stay "tuned"

You certainly need to choose your towel wisely when it comes to cleaning tyres like this. You basically end up throwing the towel away afterwards. So, either use an old towel, or use a Rip-n-Rag style towel that will set you back about 0.38 - 0.87c each.

Oh yeah for sure, I've got many "designated" mf towels with 4 dark squares on them

Did a rinseless wash on the Tacoma with Optimum Hyper Foam. No wash on wheels or tires. Wasnt too dirty but this week temps in the single digits. So this was my best chance with temps in the 30s today.

My Tacoma barely fits in the space allotted. Its only 3 inches shorter than the space. Not my spot so its not in there often. The spot belongs to the wifes CRV.

Pretty close id say. Have to get creative and back it up 5 ft to wash cab/hood/grill. Then pull it out, turn it around and back the bed into the garage to wash bed/ tailgate.

The wheels needed attention due to the new tires and bad weather. A heavy duty wheel cleaner was needed for a true deep cleaning. Sonax the Beast is one of the best. You know a wheel cleaner is working when it turns purple. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow but at least my tires and wheels will be clean.
