What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I may pick some up next time I go to HF. I usually go up there once every couple of months. I went up there last week when they had their Icon sockets on sale and got a 3/8 in shallow, semi deep, and deep 8mm-19mm plus 1/2 icon impact sockets for $110. Really good deal imo.

Where do they sell the hyperwash at? I don't recall coming across it walking around.

I reckon you did better buy getting Adam's Mega Foam, and I say that as a Hyper Wash fan. The Adam's is easier to pour and mix, foams slightly better, feels just as slick, and rinses much easier with far less reactivation.

As luck would have it, when I got home it started pouring the rain and will continue to do so until Thursday... which also will be a 20 Fahrenheit drop in temp going from a high of 78 to highs of 54. May.

I did find my potential new truck though. It's a black 250 with Java interior. Let's see how it goes.

Took the TAOS for ANOTHER touch-free wash, I say ANOTHER ONE because there was still film on it so surely Bilt-Hamber Touchless would eliminate it...it didn't

I foamed it but had 5 cars infront of us, so by the time I got in the wash all the foam dried up and/or ran off of the car, so a RW is coming this afternoon

Well...here's the RW that was REALLY needed

Pretty simple product usage here:

-Griot's Garage Wash & Wax RW
-Koch Chemie Awh @10:1
-3 tire and wheel brushes
-M22 drying towel

The ADS Phobics I applied at the very end of January is doing great but the road film after back to back touch-free washes AND pre-treating and looking like sh!t made me have to go contact wash and I'm glad I did

Going to split this in two.

The mustang ... is no more. I tried driving it to work two days in a row and my back locked up so badly I had to work from home. (I had the same issue with the maverick, but figured the stang had different seats, since I owned a 19 that was comfy) having to trade in a car after a month is a sore subject.. literally.

Introducing the atlas:

King Fisher Blue with the brown interior. First time ive ever had the exterior AND interior color i wanted. (though the avocado green would have been great too)

I am not thrilled about the gloss black wheels, but tis what it tis.

My ADS haul gets here today, so i am going to break in the new foam cannon and the ADS soaps after work.

I also have some Gyeon Quick detailer coming since I am almost out of Amplify.

This thing is going to get Phobic on the paint, Gtechniq trim on the .. trim (I have it left over from last summer) Gtechniq smart glass on the windshield and rain x on all the other glass. The interior is getting Gyeon Leather coat, and if i still have enough, Gtechniq c6 matte dash for the dash and doors.

Planning to polish it using M302, unless the first wash reveals any heavy paint defects.

oh and the front plate holder is already gone :) The rear emblems happen this weekend.

It was a rough week for the GTI. 5 days of a 150 mile round trip commute. There was supposed to be weather the week before, and off and on rain this week. I also took a rick directly to the windshield.

I was holding out for my ADS soaps so I could use the decon soap but finally had to just go for it yesterday. Used Gyeon Bathe in the bucket, Adams in the foam cannon, and Adams wheel and tire cleaner in my IK foamer for the paint. I used a two bucked method with several wash mits. I used amplify as the drying aide, and Vonnix tire dressing. I think i need to do a touch acid wash since the CSL on the roof and lower doors is nearly dead. I am hoping the KCX reactivation shampoo will do something. Regardless, it will get a quick coating of phobic to renew protection later this month.

I had to bring an Acura back to life. The owner said that he used a broom to clear off the 13 inches of snow from out blizzard a month ago and needed his paint to be resuscitated. Nice guy but after working on this vehicle this is the results of years of neglect. Deep scratches and water spots galore. Nice guy so I wanted him to walk away with a smile even though he had a limited budget. It’s a 2010 TL with plenty of clear left but he could only afford a one-step correction. I wanted this to pop so I went ahead and did a two step on the horizontal panels since it only took an extra 20 minutes. Griot’s FCC followed by Sonax Perfect Finish made short work of the defects. The vertical panels easily pass the 5 foot test so he was more than pleased. Did a quick 2000 grit sanding on his headlights and polished them out to add the cherry on top. I couldn’t do anything for the thousands of paint chips but other than that, this car is back in the game.

I found it in a really odd location at my local HF...and I think the last two time's I've bought a jug, it was in a different location. One time I found it in the car detailing area where they had things like NuFinish and mf towels and other car cleaning items. The last time I bought some, I found it over by the DA polishers and pads which is in the power tool area. Go figure...

Think of it like a scavanger hunt and a good excuse to look through the whole store and find all sorts of tools you might "need"1

Got my ads haul and cleaned the atlasnafter work. I feel like the ads Decon soap fought me to rinse clean especially on the front of the car partially in the sun. I used easy beads to get something light on the paint and trim. I really like the new drift foam cannon. I used amplify as the drying aid and on a colored car I realized I’m probably using way too much there are streaks I couldn’t see on my white cars. I need to be more disciplined about one spray per panel.

Side note how do you decide when to swap to a new drying towel during drying? Never had a car big enough to need it

82 degrees today. Fought through the pain and washed the F350. Couldn't really get the wheels, running boards or the front valance but it's better than it was.
Used Roger's Frankenshine drying aid.

How's FrankenDetailer working fir yah

Quick touch-free wash on the EN to get the dust off and clean the underbody from last week's rain...after 72 yesterday we've got rain turning to some snow Wednesday, stupid

Well i would think the three main culprits would be the fabric seats/ the carpet and the ventilation system.
Just watched a video on interior cleaning that suggested spraying a 5:1 diluted mix of fabric softener. Said it made carpet easier to clean and freshened it. This was applied prior to vacuuming. Javent tried this just saw it on the video but was from a sensible seasoned detailer. If it works on carpet maybe it works on fabric seats.
As for the ventilation i would change the cabin filter and treat that system with ???
I will use this for an example. I one time accidentaly ran over a freshly dead skunk in one of our old and now gone daily drivers. Stunk the car up something fierce, could not get rid of the smell no matter what. Mixed distilled white vinegar 50/50 with water and sprayed the entire interior of the car(cloth seats, carpet inside the vents, etc). Even sprayed exterior area/undercarage on side that traveled over dead skunk. Think i had to do it twice to eliminate odor.

Maybe try vinegar/water to kill interior odors

My neighbor bought a new Civic and I told her not to let the dealer touch it, I would do the prep. The dealer touched it anyway and made a mess. I decon'd it, light polish, and topped it with Wolfgang Sealant. The color is pretty cool and picks up different hues depending on the lighting.

The new civics are way different than when I drove them in 1998 View attachment 140009View attachment 140010View attachment 140011

Sharp car. Are they real techy cars? I thought i read anytech stufd you could disable, didnt know if that was true

After I run out of my current wheel drying aid/protectant which is a combo of Optimum detailer, Optimum Car wax and distilled water I am envisioning morphing into using Idrosave in quick detailer ratio as a replacement.
Not sure if it was you but someone had mentioned that they were using the Idrosave at a less diluted ratio than the suggested 50:1 and they were not sure that was an improvement. What say you?
how slick is idrosave as a qd? Maybe compared to say feynlab hcd?

No I wouldn't compare it to feynlab. I've only used it at the recommended 50:1 dilution ratio. Maybe more stout if you play with the ratio. But it adds an ok amount of protection at that ratio. It's crazy inexpensive even including the distilled water. I know Klasse uses it on occasion and he uses it as a detailer at 10:1.

went outside lastnight with a flashlight and looked close at the Crossport paint. Definitely swirled. It also has waterspotting. Based on the Inspection sticker date, it sat on the lot for about 6-7 months so not suprising. makes me feel better about planning the full polish. I just hope that a one step with m302 will be enough.
