What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Cleaned the windshield on the Qashqai, inside and out. Used Ech2o at 200:1 on the inside on a small twisted loop towel on my Stoner's Reach & Clean tool. I have tried this before, but with a glass cleaner, it was very grabby and the towel wouldn't stay on the end of the tool, but with Ech2o it was slick, and flashed away nicely. Buffed after with a small waffle weave. Then I used Clarify Phobic on a waffle weave on the outside, came up very clear, no visible lint, inside or out.PSX_20260509_204550.jpg

After taking the TAOS through the touch-free wash earlier this morning I decided to properly clean the tires & wheels on the EN...which led to a RW...which then led to applying a topper/killing an old bottle and finishing the job by reaching for ANOTHER old bottle

Here's the details:

Tires & Wheels
------------

*Koch Chemie Awh @10:1
*3 brushes
*TW Ceramic/Caranuba Wax & Dry
*Pure:est Tire Dressing

Rinseless Wash
-------------

*Griot's Garage Rinseless Wash

LSP(s)
-----

*TAC System 1 Step Master
*Klasse AIO

So it all started with the tires & wheels, while the rims ARE coated and bead like crazy, when going through the touch-free wash and driving away, the water/dirt/brake dust will dry, enough to be noticed (I'm sure you guys understand), so I got after that today first!

This Koch Chemie Awh @10:1 is INCREDIBLE for my needs! I use it on the tires and wheels and it always kicks a$$ I boosted up the wheels with Turtle Wax Ceramic and Caranuba Wax & Dry on them, 3 ways to use it so I took the easiest route...spray on wet, cleaned wheel and rinse away. I've gotta say it worked great, smelled like an old product but I mean it's Turtle Wax product

Next was the RW, just needed a straight forward clean, the new Griot's Garage RW always delivers, so I used it...perfect

Pulling the EN into the garage decided to finish off an old bottle of TAC System 1 Step Master, silica sealant. I can't remember the last time I used it but used it I did, wasn't sure how much of the EN I could do, so my plans were to stay topside, which I did

The Klasse AIO was used on all sides, flat part of the trunk area, rear bumper and gloss black pillars 🤌🤌

I finished up by applying Pure:est tire dressing & spraying Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Light Em Up in the interior...car came out great

Not sure why it doubled the TAC System product used, but here's the other pic

Ran across a video that featured that featured these "Purestar" microfiber products. Buy direct from the manufacturer. They offer quite a bit. Couldn't find any prices though. I'm guessing shipping individual orders from South Korea would be pricey.

Tried out the new Turtle Wax Coconut Wash and Wax from Costco. At $12 a gallon, it's a nice wash. Decent soap, plenty slick, ok suds...nothing to go crazy over but the stand out feature is it seems to leave something behind that is pretty slick. Trim also seems a little darker.

This might be slicker than Megs Ceramic Wash and Wax which is my current favorite all in one wash.

The current Megs wash, or the old orange jug?

I do like to see competition, might keep prices stable(r)??

Detail Popo is supposed to be SK as well. Really reasonably priced and everything I have got by them is very nice quality. I have a nice Gyeon wash mitt and micros and DP competes easily with them, but priced way better.

The one that looks like antifreeze. Never tried the orange, did you like it?
I never tried the antifreeze version yet, lol. I saw some feedback online when this came out that quite a few folks liked the old (orange) version better. I myself LOVE it!! It got discontinued but I was able to get it at some discountined price at Canadian Tire stores up here. I think it didn't catch on because it was a 2 part mix system. People want pour and go. Well it is impressive. I believe Jon from Forensic Detail channel was impresssd with it as well. Beads like crazy!! And seems to be fairly durable too.

After some rain the other day, the EN received it's usual touch-free wash before work this morning, new parking spot at work too, always messin' around with weird things

The beading on the antifreeze version is really good as well but why I really like it is there is no doubt there is something on the paint and trim. Its as slick as an older QD like Zaino Z6, not life changing, but there is no doubt. And lookswise it has that just applied coating look. Two cons, not much suds if that's your thing and it is absolutely non forgiving. If you don't measure the amount for the amount of water you are using or let the sun dry the suds on your paint, you are going to hate it.

I'll make an example out of Jay Leno's Ceramic wash. Its a pleasant soap, good suds, smells nice... but with Jay's you get good (not great) water beading after you wash with it. But that's it. The car doesn't look like there is anything additional on the paint, and it doesn't feel slick at all. You pay almost 3x what AA Wash and Wax costs and get worse results.

FNW tonight

I started with a full tire & wheel cleaning, 3 brushes and Brake Buster @4:1. For the couple days of driving and touch-free washes, this is all the cleaning I really need, especially with my rims triple ceramic coated

After that I moved to the touchless wash and here I was able to kill another bottle of pre-wash...Labocosmetica Purifica Decon soap (I've got a fresh bottle on deck) I used about 2.5 oz to 1 gallon in the IK Foam Pro 12, let dwell and rinsed with the Worx Nitro Hydroshot and upon rinsing...the beads, even with 40 degree tip and 710 psi, my God does it it get the job done

I then backed the EN into the garage (I love being able to say that, STILL) and dried off the entire EN with the the TRC M22...it laughed at the trillion beads! I also used CarPro Clarify Phobics, again, on the glass since the glass was so wet, it's the little trick when using it, makes your life THAT much easier

Now it sits for the weekend, lots of rain and thunder predicted, so the TAOS gets DD duty, although it gets an oil change at the dealership tomorrow morning, plus the rear brakes will be warrantied...22K and down to 4/32nds, it's a known issue but what's really goofy here is she drives 45 minutes one way to work, almost all freeway and she's a cautious driver. I've gotta a couple questions for the SA tomorrow and if I don't like what I hear, we may be getting another ride for her around this time next year

I was waiting in line for bourbon yesterday morning wearing my TCG hoodie. The guy that got in line after me said "nice hoodie, I work there." So I was guilted into a rinseless wash tonight. May try to do some paint chip repair soon before putting some protection down.

We've got a some rain coming through in the next few days, something they're calling a "rain band" actually, so I thought I'd give the windshield on the FJ a treatment with Glaco. Started by cleaning all the glass with Garage Therapy One Glass, side mirrors too, then used Autoglym Glass Polish on a Kincrome polishing pad, nice and chunky, fits the hand great, on the front glass, to remove previous treatments. Then applied Glaco using the built-in applicator, I thought I only had enough left to do 1 or 2 more applications, but I used barely any, then wiped off with a damp lint free cloth. As a final step I gave it a light buff with a small waffle weave towel.

All the instructions are in Japanese, usually I just looked it up online, I decided to try Google translate this time, took a screenshot, pretty good.1000040710.jpg

I used to love using that Autoglym glass polish.

I think it's a product I'll always have on the shelf, well, actually in my bag I keep in the car. 100% guaranteed to leave glass with a streak free finish, especially the inside of the windshield. I always used to get hazing on the inside of my Holdens, I don't know if was the plastics they were made from or the interior products I was using, probably 303 AP at the time. It's not nearly the problem in the FJ.
