What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Helping a buddy polish his Kona N today. He did all the wash/decon before I got here, so all I had to do was polish the hood, entire driver's side and rear hatch area. As I post this he's using the EGO dryer and then we'll use panel preps to wipe it down and apply the ADS 3 year ceramic coating. I'm also using Koch Chemie Ae to wipe the tires and finish up with ADS Ghost on the tires...stay "tuned"

So we used 2 Koch Chemie polishes on it, pretty impressed! Having 2 of us made it alot easier, plus he washed/decon'd it before I got there

I applied 1 coat of ADS Ghost...

Even with the currency conversion rate, bloody good prices.
Yeah, they are definitely more wants than needs but ADS rarely runs sales. I would expect one more this summer but they could also wait it out until Black Friday for another sale.

I find myself doing prep the night before more often lately. Grabbing those extra bottles and caps could simplify things.

I've also liked the HyperClean brand. They don't do a lot of marketing but I've liked what I tried. Just put an order in (15% sale) for a cleanse soap (think Reset) and a few other products. Looking forward to next weekend!

Despite the lousy weather got a wash in this afternoon after a break in the rain. Finished with TWHS wax and dry plus as a rinse wax.

Added matte black reflective CHEVROLET domed letters in the tailgate.

Owed a little to a buddys parents. Didnt go crazy on the paint correction as there was deeper scratches all over that would have required a compounding step, and there was not time for that. Gyeon primer took care of the light scraches and hazing.

Gyeon mohs evo was todays choice of protection. Unopened bottle on the shelf with a 12/2023 manufacture date. No issues with application.20260523_194526.jpg20260523_194503.jpg

ADS has a Memorial Day sale going on now. 20% off with code memorial. Ends 5/25 at midnight.

Roger, I like that Kona, and like the wheel and tire choice. Fairly thick sidewalls look sweet on it. Which wheels are those?

Edit- Aodhan Racing is the wheel brand.

Started debadging the k5. Badge was half way off now found that there is an alignment hole in the hood for the emblem. Never seen that before. What a kick in the groin. Now i have to order a new badge and get over the fact that i can not debadge it.

might order glass back as it will look better i think.20260524_094115.jpg

First bath, just a quick one. Left over feynlab v1 in the bucket from yesterday, so used that. Following the wash labocosmetica sidero iron remover(acting as clay lube as well) following along while spraying was nanoskin fine clay mitt.

ADS ceramic spray sealant followed by amplify to protect it for now until i have time to polish and apply labocosmetica Sam/hpc 2.0 combo. ADS tire+ on the tires.

Also decided to just remove the front emblem the rest of the way as it was not sticking down from this mornings removal findings of alignment holes in hood. I have a black emblem coming.

Rained right after finishing. Water beading is pretty unwhelming imo from the spray sealant/amplify combo. First time ive used it on completely bare paint.

Also installed weathertechs and mudflaps from rockbloks the other day.

Need to get new valve step caps. Stupid green (nitrogen gimmick)looks stupid

Why not paint the new badge body color? Almost as good as debadging.

My wife suggested that. I had thought that the black emblem would be black all the way through being that its plastic..am i thinking wrong? And if i color match the new one, if ans when it gets chipped up it would look like crap.

the bowtie on my pickup is color matched, and as it got chipped up i could see the original color. Thats why i thought that.

I wasn't completely happy with their Ceramic Spray Sealant after my first couple of uses on the FJ and the Qashqai. But after watching Sheepstar's ranked video on it, and this was on the V2 version, he mentioned going for a heavier application after talking with Bradley. So I did just that on the Qashqai about a month ago. I'm much happier with it now, this pic is from yesterday, but I will add that it hasn't been washed since it was applied, so no info on longevity , but it has been rained on a few times. This beading is much better than the first application.1000040846.jpg

Another weekend of in garage detailing thanks to our car washing ban. This is a 2015 F150 with ten year old water spots and a nice haze on the paint. I’m sure Yvan would be mad at this job because I did a 3pH wash. Touch-Less to remove the grit and traffic film, CarPro Descale to dissolve the minerals and DIY Rinseless to rinse off the soap and as my clay lube. I hope that he can forgive me for my transgressions. But, the star of the show was once again my EGO backpack sprayer that fulfills the roll of a poor man’s pressure washer safe to use in a garage that doubles as a detailing business and full service lawn care operation.

Did the paint come out 100% perfect? Absolutely not. Some of the water spots had etched beyond my ability to remove but the customer was thrilled at the transformation and restoration of the black luster. Coated with Pearl Nano X v2 which is my go to coating for the foreseeable future. It’s easy to install and from what I’ve seen it performs superbly in the real world. Hopefully having a week of constant rain will remove our water restrictions and I can fire up the Active 2.3 again but I won’t get my hopes up.

Nothing like a good 50/50 shot

Got off my lazy @$$ and finally did some clean-up. Between last weekend and this one, inside and outside is complete for summer.

I used a decon and coating reset soap from HyperClean, iron decon, some polishing touch-up, and then an older but unopened UK coating. I've played with so many ceramic coatings by now I can't even really say for sure what's on here and where but paint continuously looks great.

Tired of the race to use up and try new coatings... not sure what I was thinking. The sealant + wax game is more forgiving.

I did use Turtle Wax & Dry Plus on wheels. Seems about right for Turtle Wax. Nice and easy to use. Let's see how it performs.

EDIT grabbed a good outdoor shot today as I looked for high spots.

3 hrs at The Bays Wheeling today

Here's the list of products:
---------------------

Pre-wash/wash
-Bilt-Hamber Touchless & ADS carwash

Tires & Wheels
-CarPro WheelX
-ADS Tire Cleaner
-ADS Tire+
-4 various brushes

LSP
-ADS Phobics

Misc
-TAC System Water Flow
-Turtle Wax wash and dry

The EN hadn't been washed in days, so it was due. Pretty much a simple tire & wheel cleaning (sprayer on the Pressol was pi$$ing me off), foamed the car, let dwell and rinsed. Once cleaned, I used the Turtle Wax wash and Wax, whatever it's called as the spray on, hose off on the wheels, lower skirt, grill and rear diffuser, I even used TAC System Water Flow on the wheels, boosting the protection even further

Once dried and in the detail area I applied a coat of ADS Phobics to the EN's paint. I learned from my first bottle to "use it or lose it", meaning the 1st bottle went solid after almost 9 monthes, maybe a little sooner and I wasn't going to throw away another bottle

This product is so damn easy to use and the results, well, I've applied it to my buddy's car last year when he got it, 10 monthes now and it's still beading and for my EN it's a "booster" for the 1.5 year old ADS 3 year ceramic coating

Last thing I did was apply a coat of ADS Tire+ dressing to the Continental DWS06's, just a nice sheen there, Ghost is still under there too

Washed both the Qashqai and FJ this afternoon, perfect day for the start of winter. Started with the Q, Wheely Clean followed straight away with Bowden's spray and rinse sealant on the wheels. Then a bucket wash with Reset, dried with a big twisted loop towel, no drying aid. It was pretty clean other than the wheels, which were filthy, but the ADS Ceramic Spray Sealant is holding up well. 1000041043.jpg

Moving on to the FJ, I used the same bucket of Reset, once again it wasn't very dirty, as with the Q, it's sealant, Crystal Seal, is doing well, no wheel cleaner used this time, but given it stays outside, I dried using TWHS Wet Wax for some additional protection. Nothing put on either set of tyres, maybe tomorrow.1000041044.jpg
