What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

When I was doing the garage floor, I decided to downsize my microfiber towel collection. I saved a alot of old towels with many from my early days 20 years ago. Over time. I got plusher towels. Some came in trades. I pared my collection down by nearly half.

Floor looks great. I have a very similar color, it looks good with my garage colors and hides dirt almost too well. I've started running an old Roomba in the garage to keep it clean.

Turtle Wax Seal N Shine on passenger 3rd of hood/ passenger fender/passengers front and rear doors
TEC 582 on roof
Turtle Wax Pure Beads on center of hood/ grill/windshield/ passenger & drivers quarter panels/ rear lift gate
Feynlab Hybrid Ceramic Detailer on drivers 3rd of hood/ drivers fender/ drivers front and rear doors
Then Aqua Gloss on tires and Optimum hybrid drying aid on wheels
So i recorded which areas had which sealant. Going to see which one gives up first and which one makes out the best.

On friday I am going to be near the local detail supply so I might grab one of them to test drive. apparantly I cant get ADS CSS before this weekend. Be warned, Perfect Finish Sealant isn't a true spray and wipe product like Gtechniq c2v3, ADS CSS or Carpro Reload. It's almost like AMMO Hydrate in consistency and certainly doesn't atomize when sprayed. Longevity has proven to be decent, and it has the ability to fill and mask minor imperfections. A good product, but not quite the same ease of application as you might expect. In fact, they supply it with a foam applicator sponge.

I skipped it in favor of c2 v4 and some colonite slickr interested to see how both perform
 
I washed the truck to get ready to apply a sealant soon and did the interior of our other two vehicles. I am also reorganizing with my detailing cart. I want to get more chemicals out of my cabinets onto the cart to free space for other uses.

The chemicals on top are in a can cooler with a plastic liner so portable and can remove like when I am using the DA.

I want to cut it down a little more so more of the brushes are exposed.

For my mats i scrubbed with Fire Power. Then treated them with Turtle Wax Pure Beads. Left a matt finish that is not slick to the feet.

Labocosmetica Neve by chance? I just came across a bottle of this expiring in a year while moving things around. Since their acidic washes get more coverage, I was wondering what people thought of this more neutral option?

Spent yesterday compounding and polishing the atlas. Combination of swirls from the dealership I didn’t catch when I did a light polish back in march, and the waterspoting on the paint. I believe it was related to having phobic, being near the ocean, and the wildfire smoke, either way it didn’t look how I wanted.

I used h902 on a griots microfiber and m302 on a rupes yellow haven’t rolled it into the sunlight yet but the inspection light was very happy with the combo. Still a few deeper defects here and there but I didn’t feel like chasing them. Went from looking like one of those hologram baseball cards to a good coat of paint.

I used ads panel prep and then the gtechniq c2 v4. Started to rain part way through. Thankfully it’s under a carport but some water got on the paint from splashing. Hopefully no
Issues curing.

I can’t speak to hydrophobics or longevity but application was easy. No streaks and a missed spot wiped away easy an hour later. It also bumped smoothness. I think there is a cosmetic boost as well but since I just polished it, hard to say for sure.

I also washed my GTi and used the new slickr as a drying aid. I have to say it’s probably a one time purchase. No issues with application, hydrophobics seem solid but I wouldn’t call it slick even with a dry application.

I also didn’t notice much in the way of gloss. Granted my car is white and I’m normally using amplify. I did a dry application side by side of both on the hood. The amplify had a more striking appearance. More like that candy shell or glass look. The slickr was hard to notice. I’ll give it a go on my green element and see if there is a noticeable difference.

A few fine days ahead so I thought I'd give the FJ a wash. Foamed it with Reset first, didn't do the roof, this was about removing the dust and dirt from some off-roading a week ago. Mostly clean so I moved on to a single bucket wash with some Reset leftover from the last couple of washes. Moved it inside and dried with something new, I got some TW Minute Wax on clearance at Repco, it worked great, super slick feel after, glossy too, it does have Reload 2.0 underneath. I applied MK37 Graphene Ceramic Sealant to my 97 Dakota truck. I will do the inspection final touch up wipes off today.. The clearcoat is failing on the front wheels but I will just live with it. Iron remover may improve so will add this to the shopping.

Next up is to wash the wife's car.
 
Last night I pulled the atlas out after work. Finally saw it in the sun and it looks much better than before. The paint seems much darker. Of course the sun is a harsh mistress and revealed some deeper imperfections I didn’t catch. My fault for finding a good combo and just running with it when compounding and polishing. That said 90% less swirls. I might tackle the bad spots when I 2 step the roof which I avoided over the weekend.

I decided to use some waterless to clean the jambs. I have a gallon from Koch chemie I got cheap because they stopped selling it locally.

I will say the blue seems to be very unforgiving to smudges streaks finger prints etc. they’re all immediately visible.

This weekend I am probably going to really focus on the interior of the atlas and the gti. Some fresh matte dash and leather guard.

Finally figured out how to resize iPhone photos.
