So I did a touch-free wash on the TAOS earlier today but when I got home I needed to do a RW, I could see the haze of road film after the touch-free wash
I chose Opti-Coat RW today and it worked great! I also chose Koch Chemie Awh for the wheels, ADS Tire Cleaner and TAC System Water Flow to coat them. Later I applied 2x's ADS Ghost Tire Coating and now it looks great, actually clean clean

found an apartment with an insane deal so might be moving early. Of everything works I’ll probably ceramic coat the GtI this weekend. I want it done before I move and loose the carport. I really like the look of mohs, but I’m thinking quartz v2

Used Koch chemie rrw to take care of the front of the atlas and the driver door. I also did the rear hatch those were the wordt areas. I figure the polymer nature should be easiest on the coating. It’s been 8 days in the summer, I can’t imagine it’s not cured enough to handle it.
I checked the instructions and they have a blanket 14 day for all coatings, including one, pure, matte, synchro, and mohs. I’m guessing 14 days is a cya. It also has a note that you can wash the car within that time if it accumulates heavy dirt.
One thing I noticed is that the rrw actually reduced slickness. I went back over a single spot with hero and it came back. Guess rrw leaves behind something less slick than mohs.
I’m so eager to see the water beading under a pressure washer but I’ll wait the full 2 weeks. I tested the water from our faucet and it made the water meter error. When we moved in it was 750 now it’s well over 1000 ppm.

That is some hard water
Oh here’s the fun part we have a functioning water softener, and a tanin filter. Both less than a year old, both tested to be functioning. This is apparently other contaminants. I think the salt from the flush process is getting into the water. We don’t use much water and they have it set to really aggressively regen.That is some hard water
I dug Into it some more apparently the filters don’t reduce tds at all it just exchanges them for other minerals like sodium. So I’ve been washing my car with sodium water. No wonder the coatings failed

Water softeners are ion exchange systems, as you note, so the TDS stays the same, as opposed to deionizers, that remove the minerals.
The point is you are exchanging calcium and magnesium ions (generally speaking) for sodium ions, which are much less problematic.
There are times when I can taste the salt. I did an experiment on a clean panel. Dropped a few drops onto the paint, and 10 minutes later there were water spots. Unless I have to, im planning to avoid using it on the car.
We already limit the water to cleaning. We wont drink it. Smells like sulfur and copper at times. Its tested as safe, but i refuse.

But were you able to wipe off the spots? You get water spots with soft water because the TDS is the same, it's just the sodium or whatever is much less of a problem than spots from hard water, which etch, etc. When I switched my outside faucet over to the softened water, I was decided to stop using my CR Spotless. My water hardness was less than yours, and you may have other contaminants, so your results may be different.
I hate doorjambs but the really pull things together.

Been like 3 days so after work the EN got its usual maintenance touch-free but once home I wiped it down with DIY Detail Envie...SLICKNESS

We have bore water or well water as you American's say, it's called bore because you have to bore a hole into the ground looking for it.
Just checked ours it's 240-270 PPM depending on rain because it will eventually make it's way down the water table.
It does get higher in summer due to the lack of rain for about 3 months.
We don't drink it but we have a basic filter system for showering and washing BUT it could be way better, but unfortunately it's out of my control.
The 10,000 rain water tank is 10 PPM and under depending of environment conditions.

Maintenance Wash
Foamed with an oldie - Optimum Car Wash after sitting for a while then did contact wash with 1 bucket no rinsing. I like the smell.
After dwelling a little. I used about 80% of the mixture.
Suds still present after drying. Bungee used as clothes line in back on right.
Suds still there after more than an hour later. This is view dry suds (one surfactant used). The pros of dry suds - more foam, more cling., and longer lasting. Cons include harder to rinse and does not clean as well, It has always been a little harder rinse but nothing major.
