What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I did a RW on the FJ with Ech2o, it wasn't too dirty, and it's got a layer of Reload 2.0 in it, so it was very easy. I didn't touch the wheels, but I put some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tyres, I found a half bottle sitting at the back of the shelf, and tyres would be the only thing I'd use it on now, I could use it on the engine bay I suppose, whenever I decide to do that again.

Slick Dave, Did the interior of the Amarok as last Saturday they travelled to a 70th birthday in Campbelltown, half way point to Hobart.

Needs an exterior wash baaaaaaaaad but it's off for a trip to Launceston Saturday and this week's weather is windy.

BUT the pine tree 🌲 have nearly stopped blowing.

It's the same with the Qashqai, it's been sitting outside for a week while I did some work on the FJ, and it shows the dirt much worse, it really needs a good wash, but it's supposed to rain in the next couple of days, so that can wait, probably till Thursday or Friday.1000046101.jpg

Made it a blue smurf day (at least my hands look like it now)!

3ph reset wash, finished my first gallon of ADS Wheel Cleaner, validated my thoughts on the Viking Wheel Brush (do like it and seems durable), Clarify Phobic on glass and finished off primarily with PA Cosmic Spritz (color matched).

I'm hoping for a little dust protection with PA. I forget how it performs with dust but we've got a lot of nearby construction.

It was a perfect overcast morning for once and only just now did the sun show up for the day.

Happy Labor Day to the portion of AGO celebrating!

I have been watching a lot of videos and some feature the DIY Detail Perfectly Safe Brush by DYI Detail and others. The more I watch less I like the concept. People use it like broom quick sloppy motions. On high horizontal surfaces, only the back edge is in play and when used on mirrors and around mirrors it looks quite strange, I do not see how it can clean complex areas like around mirror with recesses with any precision and many do not spend any time by just using a couple of quick passes. Sponges and mitt caress the paint while the brush since the hand can control pressure, etc. It can be harder to do with it on pole 4 ft away. I am not saying it is not safe when used carefully but I do not see how it can be effective on all surfaces. I had looked at a mitt on a stick like from TRC because it has articulating head but I would only use on roof but it has other purposes around the house with the long extension. However, my wife's Outback has roof rails so the mitt on stick is not as practical. Then you have to dry and see most use the large drying towels by tossing it over the roof and dragging. I used large terry weave before and they get heavy and if not careful they can drag the ground when on lower surfaces.

Some indirectly admit that microfiber cleans the best since it trap dirt better but history has shown it is very safe when used properly. This is often a pitch for the sponge or brush,

I have the Meguiar's version, called the Reacher, basically it's a mitt on a curved and extendable stick. I only use it on my FJ, and then mainly on the roof and windscreen. You just don't have the dexterity to use it on other areas with fiddly bits, like mirrors, door handles, and around the wipers is difficult too.

Well, I am a big user of detail kegs especially in the winter for washing and wanted to mount a Fanttik X10 pump on my kegs, so I finally finished the design of the pump holder. It's a 3-piece design that hooks over the handle and uses straps to hold it around the keg. The cup that holds the pump screws on to the main chassis, this way if I ever have to replace the pump with a different unit, I can just make a new cup for the new pump. I also designed it to have a holder for my spray systems sprayer and wand and included a velcro strap channel to help hold in place when not using it and it can be mounted on either side. No to just get all the parts printed

After a short to and from appointment with the dentist, I decided to RW the EN after breakfast. The road was slightly, so not too dirty persay, so I reached for a trusty, old friend...Ech2o!

I recently got a buddy to try Ech2o so it was on my mind. Now like I said, it wasn't too dirty, plus it had a VERY fresh coat of TW Pure Beads, so the RW was very easy. That said, applying Ech2o as a RW and drying it, you could certainly feel the slickness from Ech2o, certainly not from Pure Beads (that's ok though)

Now it sits in the garage until I've gotta go back to work tomorrow, 3 day work week, pretty cool

Went back out and applied some Adam's VRT on the tires, Griot's Garage Leather Spray on the leather bits on the seats and finishing up with Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Leather scent

Wash day for the Qashqai. Bowden's Wheely Clean on the wheels, before moving on I put some Wet Dreams spray and rinse sealant on the wheels too. It was pretty dirty after being outside for a week, so I foamed it with Creaming Snowda, then finished with a bucket wash with Reset. Before moving it inside for drying I sheeted as much water off as I could. Then dried it off with big twisted loop towel, used an old synthetic chamois for the door jambs and wheels. I haven't put anything on the tyres yet, but I'll probably go with 303 Aerospace Protectant.1000046189.jpg1000046190.jpg

Shopping for some detailing stuff.

I did learn my pressure washers recommends a 4.5 orifice in sprayer and 1.25mm in a foam cannon. I am, using 4.0 and 1.1. I also learned my McKillian's foam cannon does not have a user accessible mesh filter so if I had know that I would have purchased the MJJC.

Just wrapped up my pre dawn wash and detail. Finished with wax and dry plus as a rinse wax. Tonneau cover treated with Wolfstiens protectant. Tires touched up with TWHS graphene tire shine. This product lasts on tires! My tires always look clean and dressed with this product.

What is that? It looks like a chopped up Ford sedan.

I was completely caught off guard with this one.

A friend’s future baby mama wanted her interior detailed since her parents are coming in town and she didn’t want them riding around in a dirt mobile. I was told that it’s not that bad and I figured that since she’s a woman with no kids it should be easy for the two of us. I was so very wrong. She works in a greenhouse and brings the greenhouse home with her it appears. We had about 90 minutes to do what we could and while it’s not perfect, I think her parents will be able to ride in the car without feeling completely disgusted.

The exterior is a disaster for another time.

Looks damn good for 90 minutes!
