What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I got an Eley hose reel and a Flexilla hose (opted for a brown one instead of green). The reel was pricey but the reviews of alternatives like Giraffe were not good. It was made in China and as expected it was well made and assembly was easy, I do consider it overpriced since made in China.

It has a hose drag adjustment and when I adjusted it like I wanted it I could not engage the brake so has to loosen up some.

The fittings on the Flexzilla hose do not not seem designed for hand use since it a narrow band. I use disconnects so not an issue,

I've had an Eley hose reel and their hose for at least ten years now. I got tired of those plastic garden hose reels/storage units.

The Eley has been flawless. I also bought their hose, (a 100 footer). Worth every penny. The hose is pricey, but it's the best I've ever seen.

You do have to futz with it to get the hose drag to where you want it. After you do, it'll keep the adjustment.

Mine lives outside, exposed to the elements. I do bring it in the garage for the winter.

I got cheap with the hose. Given the heft of the spigot to hose reel hose, the Eley hose would be substantial. One reason is that have been known to mow over the hose.

I have 2 of the Eley reels. One stays outside in AZ heat and one in the garage. Both with quick disconnects. Have had them for 3 years and they are absolutely a great investment. "Buy once....Cry Once".

I cleaned up our riding lawn mower.

I used my new wand and it worked fine. I also played with some orifices on the gun (not the foam cannon). I did not see much difference in psi between 3.5 and 4mm orifices. With the 1.1mm in foam cannon, the psi jumped to over 1500 psi (rated 1400 psi). I picked up a 15 degree and used it around the front wheels.

I tried P21 Total Autowash (ancient) but not that strong so got out the MK 37 1:4 and helped break down the embedded grime along with agitation.

My daughter stayed overnight for a visit which gave dad some detailing time with her daily driver suv. This AZ extreme heat and dust is so freakin hard on everything especially exteriors on vehicles.
First time using Koch Chemie Awh wheel tire cleaner. Did a good job at 5:1.Brake buster still works for me. Did a maintenance wash followed by a decontamination with the nano skin wash kit. It just works.
Finished the job by topping off the Mohs Evo applied this February with Cancoat. So hot and humid this was wipe on and immediately wipe off. Last but not least CarPro Darkside on the new Michelin Defenders.

I got a chance to try something new this weekend. This is a repeat customer that bought his son a 2005 Acura TL. I had the 03 model so this brings back memories.

He wants to protect the car as he plans on keeping it for another 2-3 years and it sits outside 24/7 so he wanted it coated. Nothing unusual there except that the clear coat was failing on the roof and hood. The cost to repaint is easily 1/2 the value of the car and he didn’t want to spend that much. They wanted a viable option that wasn’t going to break the bank to keep the paint from getting worse so I decided to give Poppy’s Patina a try. I set realistic expectations of the product and made it quite clear that this product is outside my area of expertise but for some reason I strike people as a trustworthy guy that knows what he’s doing.

The directions are pretty straight forward but I think I had too much clearcoat on the applicator. From a distance it looks fantastic but up close you can see some texture in the clearcoat but overall it was still a huge improvement and everyone was happy. I did a little wet sanding to try and smooth things out and coated with CCI Advanced and now all is right with the world.

Washed the Model Y today with this stuff. Picked it up a while ago because the reviews looked promising. I think this is my third wash with this stuff. It's really not that good. At 4oz to 2.5 gallons it is ok slick but it doesn't do much for bugs. Maybe it adds some beading but no slickness afterwards, no signs of anything.

The usual touch-free wash after work today. While the EN sat inside the garage all weekend where it rained, "dust management" was in effect, the touch-free wash is great here

This weekend the EN gets it's "pre-Dragon Run" treatment. I always want/need it fresh for the 2000 miles this trip brings. I'll be doing a strong pre-treat and rinse (probably all it'll need), usual tire & wheel cleaning/dressing/protecting and in the detail area I'll be applying ADS Phobics (gotta use up that bottle as its shelf life is getting closer to being over) Now 4 hrs later, once home, I'll be topping it with Feynlab Ceramic Spray Detailer. Yeah I could use ADS Amplify but this time around Feynlab Ceramic Spray Detailer gets called it (plus I just got a fresh bottle of it today)

While down there this weekend I'm going to meet up with Scott (Sizzle Chest) as he's at The Dragon with a 140 count car group, so the EN needs to look its very best! It'll be nice to put a face with a screen name after all these years

Isn't the AA ceramic wash & wax supposed to be impressive for it's product catagory?
Yes, it's much better than the wash and wax. But the Meguiars ceramic is even better and usually only a dollar more.

The new version of Megs? The yellowish jug?
I have a few bottles of the old version, the 2 part orange jug you had to mix, just insane beading.

Yes, the stuff that looks like Mr. Clean. It beads well but not amazing. It does make paint slick and darkens trim a bit. Very unforgiving if left to dry on paint.

So I did a touch-free wash on the TAOS earlier today but when I got home I needed to do a RW, I could see the haze of road film after the touch-free wash

I chose Opti-Coat RW today and it worked great! I also chose Koch Chemie Awh for the wheels, ADS Tire Cleaner and TAC System Water Flow to coat them. Later I applied 2x's ADS Ghost Tire Coating and now it looks great, actually clean clean

That blue looks awesome! Opti Coat products and their professional ceramic coatings are amazing, too!

I have a McKillans foam cannon that came with a 1.1mm orifice (I do not have a pin to actually check).

I ordered a 1.25 mm orifice for my foam cannon since it is the recommended size. I did notice when using it the psi was 1500-1600 rather than under 1400psi rated psi so a larger one would be warranted but I do not run it very long and do connect pressure washer to 20A circuit.

The overall diameter (not refering to orifice) of the head was smaller. I checked all sellers on amazon including MJJC and appear to be the samme dimensions as the one I purchased. The new one seats (did not use it) but I see a small gap around the head in the tube,

McKillians had no idea about the difference. It makes design sense to fill the space.

McKillans on left, "standard" on the right.

After work I hit the touch-free wash and once home I spot dried the car. I also used Koch Chemie Eu to strip the Continentals of everything on there. I did this to get out infront of it before The Bays Wheeling this Saturday. Once there a good scrubbing with ADS Tire Cleaner and the pre-treat wash should make them PERFECT for a double, fresh coat of ADS Ghost 🤌🤌

I've had an Eley hose reel and their hose for at least ten years now.
I've had a complete Eley set up for 3 years. I got the reel, the 75 ft hose, the cleaning tip and the watering tool plus several of their quick disconnects and shut offs. Eley makes the best hose products on the planet.
I ran a dedicated one inch line to supply the hose and set the input pressure at 70 psi. That is what I use for detailing. I don't use a pressure washer. With my set up the Eley cleaning tip does fairly well. My set up has tons of flow and a pressure washer is not missed. Besides I maintain my vehicles so they are easy to clean. A pressure washer is really only needed on neglected vehicles.

I have used the Eley reel some and still find the brake/drag feature lacking. But it works and makes rolling up the hose easy. I have no complaints on the Flexilla my stainless steel disconnects work great,
