What did you do today non-detailing related?

I play a bit of Gran Turismo, both 5 & 6, on my old PS3. I recently replaced my controller after the battery died in the old one, this is the 4th replacement from memory. But I've only used it 3 times in as many months. I really couldn't justify the expense, or the space to store it, but I'd definitely like one. I also don't play socially, I usually end up trying to beat my own lap times.
There is a place called GTPlanet that would host weekly time trials and that was my favorite thing in the world until everyone quite playing and they had tk disband it. If I remember right, it ran for about 22 straight years or more.

Went into a large automotive chain store this afternoon to buy some oil. Found what I wanted and walked up to the counter. Clearly, I was interrupting some sort of conversation between four staff members, my presence seemed like a nuisance to the guy who ultimately served me. My item was scanned and payment processed. Before the guy could even hand me the receipt, they had resumed their conversation as if I had already left. No thanks, no "see you next time", no "have a nice day", no smile, nothing.

When I worked in retail, that sort of thing was a no-no. From the moment a customer walked through the doors, their presence was to be acknowledged. I never liked hunting down customers as it's something I hate having done to me when shopping, if I need help, I will ask. Even still, at the very least a smile or head nod was my compromise. And if you were actually serving them, they had your attention, no "let me just answer this call..........", no "let us finish our gossip session before we take your money".

THIS is just one of the reasons why retail is dying a slow death. That bottle of oil I could have just as easily bought online in the comfort of an airconditioned home, had it delivered to my door without sitting in traffic, or finding a park..............or nearly being wiped out by an idiot truck driver as happened today. And crucially, not having to deal with morons who don't appreciate your business. But hey, "shopping locally" is very important.

Do you have a "membership" with this particular chain, because if it was the Super one, they quite often send me an email asking me how my shopping experience was, and usually another one asking me to review whatever I bought. If the experience caught my attention, good or bad, I usually let them know. I like to praise good service, and give constructive criticism when needed.

No, it was the one named after the highways of Germany. I often get survey requests from them all, I guess I'll follow through with this one.

We had 19" of snow, still digging out.
It ended up shifting east and giving us less snow than expected. I'd say about 7 inches vs 12. But it was heavy snow.

I cleaned all the ceiling fans, a job I could do while watching for my Amazon delivery, not that porch pirates have been a problem around here.

Then my delivery came, I ordered some replacement ear pads for my Sony XM3 headphones. Content warning for the picture below, they were filthy, and about 7 years old. It seems like this has fixed the feedback whistle I was getting when I was using the noise cancelling setting, I guess the microphone was picking up sound from the headphones and trying to cancel it, creating a feedback loop. They even came with a removal tool for the old pads, all delivered for under $30.PSX_20260225_151015.jpg

I'm sure Sony do replacement pads, and charge a lot for them, but these were the cheapest available, there are a lot of different patterns and materials available, but I didn't want fancy red with gold flowers on them, standard black for me.

When these eventually die, I'll look at the reviews and get something reasonable.

Went to the tyre shop and got the summer air taken out of my tyres,
And new autumn 🍂 air put in. Will do the same come winter.

It's still too warm here to change out the summer air, we've still got a few days in the mid 30s/90s to come.

I did mow the lawns again today, we were supposed to get up to 30mm of rain in the last week, but we got less than 3, so I guess I'm putting the sprinklers out again.
