What did you do today non-detailing related?

Without losing huge money jumpimg into a new one, you get tweek yours to get close enough to the interior you like. Quality and still way cheaper than trading.

The dodge ram i detailed last year had those seat covers on it. He loves them and adds them to every truck he gets!

I am eyeballing this pretty good

Did a compressor swap today. I had a two gallon compressor that was mounted to a wheeled cart in my garage. Then my 20 gallon was in my shed.
All the 20 gallon was used for was filling up tires and the 2 gallon was doing the heavy lifting. So it finally dawned on me to switch places.
I added the air hose reel, the jumper hose, wired it in so it turns on and off with the switch and added the 4 ft drain hose so i can drain the tank without making a mess. Just bleed the compressor down to about 30 psi then stick the end of the hose into a gallon jug and open the 1/4 turn valve.

Can leave it all the way under the bench for draining and operation. With the two gallon i had to pull it out from under the bench and plug it in.
The extra slack in the jumper hose and power cord are there so I can pull it out without disconnecting it.

I bought a new truck. I have to clean it up before I show if here. It's a 2025 F250 Black with the black appearance package. Deadwood edition, came factory with 6 inch lift, 20 inch fuel rims, 37 inch tires, custom paisley (not brad) interior.

We will see how long I keep it.

A surprise late Hydrangea bloom.

For those who don't know, soil pH typically determines the colour of Hydrangea blooms. A pH above neutral 7.5 will produce pink flowers, in other words alkalinity. For blue flowers, you need to go the other way, acidic soil of around pH 5.5 or lower.

So, if you have blue and want pink, add lime generously to the soil in spring to raise the pH and lock out soluble aluminium (Alum). If you have pink and want blue, add aluminum sulfate (Alum) in spring to lower the pH. Be careful with Alum as it can create toxic soil conditions if overdone.

To be honest, I've never bothered changing Hydrangea colours, either blue or pink is a blessing.

I had to replace one of the LED strip lights in the garage, it stopped working during the week. Luckily prices have dropped, the original was $30, now they're $22, and with a better remote.

And while on lighting, the hexagonal light strips I posted about at Bunnings a few weeks back, have been recalled. Apparently they have been catching fire

I had another go at worst patch of clear coat failure. Sanded it back smooth, taped it up and sprayed some colour into it yesterday, then re-taped it and sprayed some 2 pack clear today. It passes the 10 foot test, but up close it's annoyingly obvious, I still might wet sand and polish it later to blend it, but I'll let it set for a month or two before attempting that. I also removed the front stone guard, it's always been a pain washing with it there, and now it doesn't matter anymore.PSX_20260315_171452.jpgPSX_20260315_171702.jpg

Here's then next 4 spots starting to appear, if it gets bad enough I might take the hood off, sand it back and spray it satin black to hide them.PSX_20260315_171334.jpg

Another big mowing run this week.

Two weeks ago, I was mowing Kikuyu lawns after 60mm of rain and steamy humid conditions. After that massive soaking and another 6mm this week, I'm back doing those same lawns under the same conditions. The amount of grass I took off was the most for this season! It's hard on the body, hard on the machinery.

The ProCut has been working bloody hard this month. It was last serviced in October 2025 before the season really took off, so between these two marathons I decided to do a little maintenance. These engines never really burn oil between changes, even when running hard and hot, however the oil drained out pretty dark this time. Fresh oil, a new plug and a set of blades and it's cutting nice and clean again.

I mowed last weekend, had to empty the catcher more times than I have since November last year. And annoyingly, after the organics bin was emptied, it was still half full of grass, I guess he didn't shake it enough. I'll have to shake it up a bit with the hoe before I put it out next week.

Finally tracked down the only missing piece of my Victa 18, the clip-on spark plug spanner. For what is a 67-year old mower, it provides one of the cleanest cuts I've ever come across. Super dangerous to use, but worth it for the satisfaction.
