Dad did the cutting deck on the ride on greased the nipples and spindles. Sharpen the blades oil is still good.

It's funny I've been cutting the neighbours grass all winter it grows more than ours.

I watch a lot of small engine videos on Youtube. I look at the guys working on zero-turns and ride-on mowers and think what a pig of a job. Anything beyond a basic oil change is hard to do; belts, spindles, wiring, transmissions..................and most of it is poorly executed in terms of where things are located or attached to the frame.

I remember in one video, those geniuses at John Doe decided to cover the model identification plate under a mounting bracket............what use is it under there where either the owner or mechanic can't see it? Said plate is used to order belts, blades, and other parts specific to the mower. Morons!

The neighbour treated me to a new whipper snipper..........pics coming soon.

Absolutely i made then pay! all up i received an Olight torch at a cost of $170.

An a Stihl whipper snipper value $330 the next model up had a harness and i can't be stuffed with a "Strap On"

I'll get some pictures tomorrow it's just so nice and clean.

Dad can pretty much take off the cutting deck blind folded thanks to Husqvarna quality, We order the part's online because i don't like that South African Bo$$ at the store because he puts on tooooo much %
and on a Google review gave out our house location.

My brother and his wife stayed so i showed them the new suspension bridge located in Latrobe the longest in Tasmania the track's are pedestrian, dog's and Mountain bike friendly, There were a lot of people there it's good to see people getting active whether by bike or foot or even fishing in the river.

They even have bike showers to wash off the mud.

Though the river has changed since the flooding we had back in 2016? it was still nice to see.

I was a little nervous at first on the bridge because it swings left to right up and down but I put on my "big boy" pants at did it.

My brother said "you would never make it on an aeroplane" and you know what.......I've never been on a plane ever in 45 years on earth I'm scared shitless.

We went to our local restaurant but ever since the new (Indian) owners have taken over sadly it's not the same, we missed some new cut off for the kitchen and they were only doing outdoor seating from the take a way menu.

We declined to eat outside because it was cold and it's near the beach plus what we wanted wasn't on the menu.

Took the $100 they would of made and went to "straight off the boat" a local family run business catching all their seafood off the coast of Tasmania.

I had 5 calamari rings two big pieces of gummy shark and chips with chicken salt over everything of course.

And a cold creaming soda. $33 it was more than I could eat.

Tasmania in winter time with tuff i don't mind paying for quality food as long as it's consistent or even the extra surcharge for Sat/Sun

The faithful Milk Bar - Take away shops are closing down and restaurants are hardly open, I know the chef's need time off etc but we're a small town and a small population in Tasmania and I for one would rather spend my money on a local business over McDonald's KFC Hungry Jack's etc, because they're just as expensive!

Based on the price, I'm assuming it's a Stihl FS 45. Totally not a commercial-grade machine, but I ran two of them over hundreds and hundreds of hours with nothing more than an air filter and spark plug.

Couple of things to keep an eye on, more so down the track -

- With how a trimmer is run, often at part throttle around obstacles, trees, windows etc, they don't get hot enough to burn off the carbon exiting the exhaust port. The first place this shows up will be the muffler spark arrestor, which will block up and cause the engine to have no power or ability to rev. Once it blocks that up, it will then work its way back to the exhaust port itself.

- Many will simply remove the muffler outlet and cut off the screen, but you do run the risk of starting a fire in dry conditions. Otherwise, remove the screen and blast it with a flame until it burns off. If you leave the screen in place, just make a habit of removing and cleaning on a periodic basis, say once a season.



- Another way to slow this down would be to use the Stihl HP Ultra fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. This burns much cleaner and dryer, preventing or slowing down the issue. Even when you do need to clean the screen, it comes off much easier than mineral-based oils. It smells a little funny when its running, but certainly not the smoke show you get from other oils.

- Be warned, Stihl have two oils labeled with "HP". The red/pink one is simply called HP and is mineral based. The green one is called HP Ultra and is the synthetic version. A lot of "experts" claim HP Ultra is trash, but I have been using it since it was released and have never killed a machine or caused early wear. HP Ultra also has a fuel stabilizer, which is handy if you are storing fuel over a longer than ideal period. I switched to it due to carbon deposits causing down time. Actually, I've found the regular HP to be one of the worst 2-stroke oils I have tried, it burns smokey, makes your clothes stink and leave a lot of sticky carbon residue. It certainly lubricates, but everything else sucks.

You're bang on it's a FS 45 Deyon I could of went with a more expensive one because the neighbour said get what you want......but i took that with a grain of salt and thought this will do.

Our base model version has done it's job but we've only done spark plugs and air filter, but the old girl has served it's purpose.

I'm going to use her until she blows up then make the switch to the new one, We have a brush cutter as well blade and line for the big stuff.

Thanks for the tips and we will make the switch over to HP Ultra.

I have a plywood top bench so I added vinyl flooring to the top to protect it. It cost $20 for a 2 inch x 12 ft strip at Home Depot.

My Dad locked his cat in the garage again last night.....it follows him around like a lost puppy dog sometimes even tripping him up.

She was traumatised so a big plate of chicken and cuddles did the trick now currently fast a sleep under the kitchen table.

I was at the local shopping centre today, they had this Ford Everest on display as part of a raffle. What made me laugh was them slipping a drip tray underneath, apparently it was leaking. It is a nice looking vehicle, but going by the plates it's been on the road for just 6 weeks. I didn't buy any tickets.

Since 2020 car manufacturers can make up a price and this applies to second hand car's, and we the consumer have to "bend over and take it with no lube" plus we don't have lemon laws like the USA.

The biggest problem after Ford, GM and Toyota closed car manufacturing is something many don't talk about. Australian made cars were a reference point in which the entire car industry worked around. When a Camry was a $29,990 proposition, a high end Falcon G6E Turbo at $54,990, or a high performance Holden/HSV Clubsport was $78,990...................it put a lid on what car companies could ask for their products, above AND below those price points. It's why that $29,990 wouldn't even get you into a Corolla, $54,990 gets you Camry, and $78,990 doesn't even get you a EcoBoost Mustang, let alone a V8.

I was woken up this morning by someone driving past their skill level, and before 6am on a Sunday morning. It's not a sharp bend, but there would have been dew on road. I looked out the front window but couldn't see anything so I went back to bed. Apparently it was a WRX, he hit an old Camry parked a couple of houses up, and ended up 4 houses up on the other side of road. He did try to drive off, but it would only drive in circles . The police and tow trucks turned up but I was back in bed asleep by then.

This is in front of my neighbours house, the skid marks in front of my place are on the opposite side of the road, so it would have been a wild ride.

Cleaned up this kettle, inside and out, we've probably had it 20 years, but we haven't used it since we moved house. It's mirror polished stainless steel, I could try for perfection, but I'm happy.
