I love DG901 as a maintanence wash and as a clay lube. With 20% off and free shipping, a 6 bottle case can be had for $21.60 ($3.60 a bottle!) For pre-correction wash I use CG wash clear and OPC.

The best? Lusso Oro. Slick, luxurious, and tons of suds. Save it for a special occasion @ $70 a gallon. There are so many good ones I'm not going to list them. All I can say, is that if your using a wax, I think it's a good idea to use soap designed for a wax.

There are a ton of good soaps on the market. Without jumping into the outrageous priced soaps (some of which are worth it, most not) I have found that the following are my favorite:

  • Optimum Car Wash - Long lasting suds, rich lather, thick
  • Ultima Paint Guard Wash - Same as Optimum
  • Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam - Best used in foam gun or cannon
  • Chemical Guys Citrus - Also called Red or Citrus Wash - Best for stripping the paint prior to waxing. Good cleaning action.
  • SONAX Car Wash - Good shampoo from GREAT company.

Honorable Mentions:
  • Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss & Wash & Clear
  • DG 901/2
  • Auto Finesse Lather
  • 1Z Exclusiv Gloss (own it but haven't used it yet; heard good things though)

Others that people like that I have not used:
  • Dodo Juice Born to be Mild
  • P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
  • Others that I have forgotten...

Hope this helps! The beauty is even if you buy one that you don't like, it gets the job done until it's time to re-buy! Happy detailing!

Can you explain to a rookie what "designed for a wax" means?

Can you explain to a rookie what "designed for a wax" means?

It means that it will not strip the wax or protection that is on the paint. It is usually represented by the wash saying "maintenance" "wax-safe" or something of the like. Conversely, a soap that says "stripping," "conditioning," or something like that means it is designed to strip the protection and provide a bare surface in which to work (though there is debate as to if a soap can strip a wax or sealant at all).

That is how I have always read the "designed for wax", but if that's not the case I hope someone else can correct me.

CG'S Mr.Pink.

I just started using it, good suds, slick feeling, rinses off well and just love the smell.
Before Mr.Pink I was using Maxi-Suds, another good soap.
Both only takes a little to give you a five gallon bucket of soap.
Can't go wrong with either one.

I have been using Megs Hyper Wash for a long time now. Its good in the foam cannon as well:props:

DG 901 for maintenance
Megs Hyper Wash for maintenance
CG Citrus Wash n Gloss for stripping wax and squeaky clean
Want to get Auto Finesse Avalanche for the winter crud

That's interesting I have found Mr. Pink to be the worst soap I have in my collection. To me it lacked cleaning ability and had poor lubricity. I really regret buying the gallon. I now only use it for my foam lance. But everyone has an opinion.

My favorites are
DG 901
Optimum
Ultima

I'm a big fan of CG Mr Pink. Cleans well, nice suds, a little goes a long way, and the best smell ever.

The best I've used:

Optimum car wash
Meg's Hyper wash
A***'* car shampoo

... and if you use a coating, use a wash made for coatings, i.e., no gloss enhancers like G Wash., DODO Juice Super Natural or Born to be Mild.
For prep wash nothing beats CG Citrus Red for me.

I've been trying but I just can't do much with it. I've been using it for wheels just to get rid of it.

To the OP, Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo is nice but for general maintenance I have no reason to switch from Duragloss 902.
