Hello,

I'm trying to find out if there is a difference between P21S Concours Carnauba Wax vs S100 Carnauba Wax. I've search the AG Forum and all the threads say they are identical other than one is marketed for autos and the other for bikes. They don't go into much detail, other than saying there are the same. How do they know they are the same? They are not same when it comes to price. $31.99 vs $ 14.99.

Thank You,
Robert

$17 is about the only difference I know off. I'm with you about not being able to find the details about how people know they are the same. But a lot of people say they are.

No clue how they know... but they know. Stick with the s100!

i have never tried either, however I have heard from many peope they are the same. for those who say they are not the same they say there are minor diffrences. Neither are that expensive..perhaps a comparion is in order

If you are willing to spend $30 on a wax, get DP Max Wax or Pinnacle Liquid Souveran. If only $16 - Natty's Blue.

Here is a description from another site. Although it does not specifically mention the paste wax, one can only ass/u/me from the look, and the packaging that it also would be included.

In the early 80's, the German manufacturer of P21S adapted the detergent cleaning system used in the wheel cleaners for cleaning motorcycles. This new product, Total Cycle Cleaner, was brought to market under the S100 name. When Total Cycle Cleaner reached America in 1990, it created a major revolution! For the first time, all parts of a filthy bike could be cleaned in minutes using just one product that didn't contain any petroleum solvents! Rider Magazine hailed it as a "revolution for the Saturday morning wash."

Bike dealers and manufacturers clamored for the new cleaner and soon ocean containers were arriving weekly to satisfy the demand. Additional S100 products quickly followed including Special Performance Wheel Cleaner, Total Cycle Corrosion Protectant, Detail + Wax, Engine Brightener, Total Cycle Finish Restorer, and the S100 Super Absorbing Towel.

price and retailers are only difference, P21S to automotive crowd and S100 to the biking crowd.

P21s

I would go with the P21S, If consumer reports say it is the best. Basically if both cans are good for 10 waxes the p21S cost is around $3.1 a wax and the othe is $1.5 a wax. however if the p21S last one third to 50% longer then the price difference is not much and less if more then 10 waxes. I guess what is your time worth and the enjoyment factor. I do however enjoy doing it.

You are going to trust that consumer reports article? Wasn't their top products TURTLE wax? I hate to say it... but MOST of their products don't even come CLOSE to boutique products. I think I would trust the people here (who obsess over detailing) over the writers at CR and their apparent "knowledge" of the subject.

Thanks for all the great response(s) especially 3DOG. I will go with S100.

Ditto. Natty's Blue might be one of the most popular "cheaper" waxes. I sure love my stuff.

Ones for cars ones for bikes but they work the same

No offense Brian, but I'd put about as much faith in anything Consumer Crap has to say as my local... politician has to say. They're a publication with upper management who have beef against many companies (Cingular is an example that comes off the top of my head), and a unknowledgeable review staff.

Unless I'm looking for home appliances, CR = CRap for me.

It's analogous to how CNET is a joke in the tech world.

Someone is CAKING the wax on if you are only getting 10 waxes per can. I have waxed 12 times with my can of P21s and I have barely made a dent in the can.

Please don't tell me you believe consumer reports b/c they said it was the best lol? Their test are flawed and detarded lol.

10 waxes, your putting it on way, way to thick. I had S100 but gave it to a friend, same as P21S, didn't care for it, goes on and off easily but durability sucks and doesn't look like anything special, just waxed basically. Doesn't have that that extra depth or wettness others have. I grabbed mine at a Harley Dealer.

Consumer Reports are a joke, don't get me started. If anything they misguide the consumer who want quality in any industry.

S100 is P21S, as many emails from the company have said. S100 has a flex agent and is lighter in color.

lets keep this light .....

Consumer Reports is a valid source material, but remember pricing , personal choice, and brand recognition are things that are more important to some people. For example, I will only install Trane A/C units on all my homes. Why ?? Because they have not failed in my fathers 67+ years of existence nor mine. Sure it costs more, and the new model might not have a feature such as the newest Rheem (example) ... but I am using years of results as my deciding point.

Also note with most tests, they do not test ALL products, but just a grouping. To my knowledge they have never offered the boutique waxes in comparision, and the Wax Report was highly misrepresentative based upon materials used, prep, and scoring for availability.
