What is the difference between a paint cleaner and a paint polish? I know that Pinnacle Paint cleansing lotion, swirl x, and scratch x are all considered paint cleaners, but are they also considered a polish??

Feed back please

I know SwirlX is a cleaner/polish and ScratchX is just a straight cleaner.

Most paint cleaners use chemicals to clean and polishes uses abrasives rather it be diminishing or non-diminishing abrasives to polish

Is Meguiar's Color X a cleaner, a polish or neither?

Meguiars ColorX is categorized as a cleaner wax.

Looking back at an old post on Meguiars forum, Mike Phillips said that ColorX is a Paint Cleaner, Paint Polish and a Polymer Protectant.

Hope this helps

So it's not good to remove old sealant/wax like ScratchX can do, right ?
Thanks! :props:

Since ColorX is a cleaner wax it can remove old sealant/wax, if that is what you are asking?

ColorX will clean your paint and leave behind a layer of polymer protectant (wax) of it's own all in one step.

Yes that was my question.
Thanks for your answers!:dblthumb2:

Is one (cleaner or polish) more preferred to use on new paint in good condition than the other? What product would be best to use on new paint prior to waxing?

I've gotten great results with Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion. Try it you'll like it.

ColorX is a Paint Cleaner, Paint Polish and a blend of both Carnauba and Synthetic protection ingredients all mixed together, or in other words its a cleaner/wax or All-In-One product

Cleaner/Wax and AIO = the same type of product or category.

A dedicated paint cleaner will remove any wax or paint sealant previously applied to the surface if properly worked against the paint. A cleaner/wax will also remove any previously applied wax or paint sealant off the surface but it will leave behind a coating of wax or paint sealant where as the paint cleaner won't.

You could use either. If the paint is in excellent condition, then use both gently or lightly as you don't need aggressive cleaning or polishing action.

A quality paint cleaner will leave the finish looking polished. A quality polish will leave the paint looking polished but may not have enough cleaning ability to tackle more serious defects.

Well according to AG scale, PPCL has a cut of 1.

This one has abrasives in it. Mike and i went back and fourth about this a couple weeks ago. I looked for the thread, but it has been deleted for some reason.

It's second from the bottom

My goal and posting history is to help others get great results when they go out into their garage and work on their car. I know that can sound kind of simple to some people but in reality, that's the bottom line.

It could be I'm wrong about the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion and when I'm wrong I'm the first one to admit it. I've been out of town since ending the Advanced Class this last Sunday, I'll be back into the office tomorrow and then sort this out.

How's that?

:)

I thought it didn't, the product page says it doesn't. But Mike said he asked Meghan and Dwayne. Both of them told Mike it had abrasives in it. It even caught Killr off guard. I am hoping for a solid answer on this also. Let us know what you find out Mike.

So before I apply a sealant and wax on my car, should I use ColorX to remove my old wax of or a clay bar ( or both ) ?
I want to prepare my car for winter with the stuff I already have.
Thanks! :xyxthumbs:

I just read the product page and it said that it does not have abrasives.
