What is this "coating"?

I have a 2010 caravan in and it has a layer of "haze" coating over the scratches underneath. You can actually see the sponge path from when it was applied. My heaviest cut SMAT compound on the rotary is barely touching the stuff. Anyone come across this? Any tips on removing it quicker? There's a lot of real estate on this van and I'd like to at least get this junk off within 6 hours View attachment 30420View attachment 30421

Haven't figured out what it is, but after a light wet sanding test spot it came off.
It was decided that I will not be wet sanding the rest of the van. Whew!

What machine, pad and compound?

I find Megs Ultra Cut Compound m105 cuts fast especially with a wool pad and 3401.
