Hey guys. Every once in awhile when I wash my truck with Megs Gold Class I get these weird smears. It isnt swirls or scratches but just like an oily residue left on the surface. I have tried using a lot of shampoo and very little shampoo like today and it still happens. I use microfiber detergent on my towels as well. They soap for an hour and then washed in the machine with the recommended amount of soap one a double rinse cycle so the towels should be very clean. Could it be from not rinsing right after wiping with the wash mit? Im just trying to get some answers. Could it be the soap not liking the wax on the truck which is Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro. Any ideas would help!

Maybe some residue from your LSP that was never wiped off properly?

Looks like a hologram caused by a polisher?

Maybe try a different soap. That way, you could narrow it down to soap or towels/LSP.

Maybe the "conditioners" that Gold Glass leaves behind don't like your LSP or paint.

That's the thing it isn't holograms because If I do a waterless wash or if I wax after a wash the paint looks perfect. It is above the surface not in the clear coat

Both pictures look like a hologram caused by machine polishing to me. As for only seeing them once you wash the car, well that would make sense to me as you're removing a built up layer of dirt & grime, revealing the true nature of the defects.

I've never had any smearing issues with Meg's Gold Class, and it doesn't look like leftover sealant or wax residue for me, has the car been machine polished under your ownership? If not, I'm willing to bet it's more than likely holograms from a previous 'detailer'.

However, if it's not, it could be the 'conditioners' in the Gold Class, but I never really viewed Meg's GC as a wash'n'wax type product that would leave behind smears like one typically would.

That's what I'm doing. I have some Dodo Born to be Mild coming tues so I was assuming it is the soap because if I wax or anything else it doesn't do that so it can't be the towels

It isn't holograms. It's a brand new truck and I'm the only who has touched it. Like I stated before it hasn't done any of this after polishing, waxing, waterless washing, ect. I have seen other complain about smearing with gold class before

And another reason it isn't holograms is because it has never seem a rotary polisher

It looks like marring to me. Does it wipe off with quick detailer?

Gold Class has a lot of sheeting and/or glossing agents in it. If it dries on the paint before rinsing, you (well at least for me) get some filmy spots that won't rinse off, you have to QD them off. IMO what you did is smear some of those spots with your drying towel.

Haha yes! I don't know how many different times I gotta explain it isn't in the clear coat. It is some sort of surface oily substance. No marring, no swirls, no holograms. Just wondering how to eliminate the oily substance so I don't have to use a detailer after

Nate have you done any polishing to the paint either by machine DA or hand?

Just try to limit down what it can be. :dblthumb2:

EDIT:

You answered my question!

For me all soaps do this to some extent. Gold Class IME is one of the worst for this.

CG Maxi Suds II
Optimum Car wash

Take your pick and PM me your address

Haha don't worry about it man! I got some Dodo Born to be Mild coming it will be here tues. I use the gold class as soap if I'm gonna do a correction or wax because it doesn't matter then but maintence wash with the Dodo and the waterless DP for getting the dust offf

I understand your frustration but you asked for opinions and you got them.
