What is your favorite microfiber towel for waterless MAINTENANCE wash?

I do a lot of waterless washes but almost all of them are PREP washes. I'm cleaning a car before I clay it and then do paint correction work.

For a prep wash, I'll use either of these about about a dozen of them for one car.

Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels 12 Pack = 600 g/m2

Supreme 530 Microfiber Towel 12 Pack = 530 g/m2

The above two types of towels are close to the same except for color and the purple towel offers 70 more grams per square meter" or g/m2

The plush side because it has a thicker or longer nap enables dirt and other contaminants to bury into the nap versus being trapped between a flat weave style surface and your car's paint. Thus a case can be made that the longer nap side of the above two towels would be safer for doing a waterless PREP wash.

The same case could be made for doing a waterless MAINTENANCE wash assuming a person used the fluffy side, not the flat weave side.

The blend of 75/25 polyester to polyamide also makes them quite soft another nice characteristic for cleaning car paint via a waterless wash.

The above all said, what do you like for a waterless MAINTENANCE wash?

:)

Good question, Mike.

I do have a nice selection of MF towels - mostly from Griots, so the other day I called and asked them just that - what is the recommended towel for a WW (and Rinseless) wash. To my surprise, he said the PFN Terry Drying Towel.

That's good, because I have plenty, but I would have thought the super plush edgeless towels would have been the ones best suited.

I use the creature as well. I reached out to them directly and that was one of their suggestions. Works pretty well.

For cleaning/damp wipe The Rag Company 16x16 Creature Edgeless

I have not used the above towel yet, will have to check into.

The above are the blue version of the orange towels I've been using and sharing.

I have ONE of these in the garage and I do like it but I haven't tried to wipe a car clean with it using a waterless wash.

It's a VERY STOUT towel for sure.

This is an easy one.

Cobra Chinchilla.

I have tried possibly 10 different types for WW, but I have never loved anything as well as the Chinchillas.

JMO.......

I do lots of rinse less washes.

My go to are these 2 towels from Rag Co.

1. The Creature
2. Minx Royal

Both are excellent towels!

I’m more of a traditional wash guy. I still feel this is the safest method. I do occasionally do waterless washes for SIVs that I prefer not to get drenched.

I prefer the chinchillas. I like that they are thick and I can easily roll up on each wipe as to not grind dirt back into the paint. They also absorb well as I tend to really use WWs heavy. I like that they are darker and stains are less noticeable.

My only draw back with these is the inspection process. Since they are thicker and plusher, they can potentially hold and trap more debris in them. So I spend extra time “petting” them to check for contamination.

Usually it’s TRC Eagle’s 500. Lately i’ve been liking the 16x16 pluffle’s.

One that I use for rinseless and would be great for waterless maintenance washes would be the Speed Master Cloud 9’s. I like that the fibers are longer but not to long.... really is an underrated towel.

You should grab a couple and test them out let us know what you think.

On two of my cars I do waterless washes once a week.
So I am trying to find the best to avoid marring etc.
Are all of these suitable for this purpose?

If you could only have one which one would you choose?

I use the trc eagle edgeless 350 or a trc platinum pluffle.

If one for everything? Probably the EE 350. I don’t have many of those bet they do everything well. For different specific tasks they’re not my favorite for any.

But if I could only use one towel for detailing that would be it.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a few and usually do pull them out to remove polish.
