Hi guys, I was just curious to get some feedback on what everybody's favorite pre-wax cleaners are. Feel free to post up pictures as well. I personally think my favorite so far is the P21S cleansing lotion.

I did a little testing the other day with the ones I own. I compared Blackfire GEP, Wolfgang PPE, Poor Boys Pro Polish, and P21S Paint Cleaner. I think the BF GEP is the best of those 4. However, there is many out there I have yet to try.

One thing I've noticed as a lot of the products have a significant "glaze" component. They do not leave the surface "bare". This makes me kind of want to match the LSP to "it's" paint cleaner.

Also some of the most expensive LSP manufacturers (Zymol / Swissvax) have a reputation for making some of the oiliest PWCs (HD Cleanse / Cleaner Fluid).

Isn't DG 501 considered an AIO not a paint cleaner since it is a sealant too?

Believe it or not I still have some Meg's paint cleaner and it still works well. Recently did a 13 Camry with sap stains. Clay wasn't really doin the job, so I used Meg's paint cleaner with a white polishing pad and it worked very well.

After a thorough vehicle wash/dry-session...
-Whatever polish(es) that I will be using to polish (possibly correct) the vehicle's blemishes...
Will be my favorite "pre-wax paint-cleaner".

If the blemishes aren't of a too: Ornery Nature...
I will use 3M IHG as my favorite "pre-wax paint-cleaner".

For a more thorough "pre-wax paint-cleaning session":
-ValuGard Decontamination System (ABC)
-FinishKare Decontamination System

No need for any extra-bottles sitting on my shelves this way.
Or...Less monies in my wallet.

The thing is, none of these choices removes old LSPs, hides minor blemishes, and sacrifices zero precious clear coat - all in one step. I get the feeling you don't like pre-wax cleaners, but for just changing your wax on a finish that is fairly defect free, you can't beat them. Not to mention they can add gloss and hide some minor defects.

I'm surprised someone who is concerned with "monies in my wallet" would fail to see the benefit and convenience in using one!

A great paint cleaner without any protection is CG EZ creme glaze. It's legacy speaks for itself.

However even though DG 501 is technically an AIO you can't beat its paint cleaning power and combined protection is an easy 6 months. Top it with any wax if you wish.

I have aquired both of these but have yet to use either. Which one do you recommend pre-carnuba? Do they both hide fine scratches?

Pinnacle makes a mean paint cleaner my friend. If you're looking to hide anything it isn't for you. Quite the opposite, it cleans everything out. :xyxthumbs:

I must have a defective bottle of Blackfire GEP. It's completly useless, it clouds up and makes my paint into a lighter shade. :(

Thanks for the response. I was hoping it wouldn't "fill" too much. Sounds like it's worth a shot.

I believe you! I tried D501 and although it did a good job, I think my meg paint cleaner stage1 from the deep crystal system cleaned better... Although it could be a user error on my part

^^^Pray tell: How, in the name of science, is this possible without using abrasives/abrasive technique??^^^

(If it's by so-called "chemical-means"...What's the usual solvent that's used?)

IMHO....Just about every polish, even AIO's, will fit my description/prescription...as being a: "pre-wax cleaner".

You are indeed correct Steve:
I am one of the people that did not, and will not, fall for any of this: Pre-wax cleaner marketing-hype!!

Therefore:
I actually do not have concerns about more "monies in my wallet" from not having purchased...as I postulate...an unneeded product.

As to/for:
"A finish that is fairly defect free....and adding gloss":

-I already mentioned 3M IHG as my favorite polish (an excellent "pre-wax cleaner") for accomplishing that task.
