I have a 2014 Nissan Murano with a "Leather" interior. I want to get a good product to maintain the upholstery. After reading many post it seems that interiors called "Leather" could be straight leather, vinyl covered leather or maybe all vinyl. I talked to the dealer and all I can get out of them is that it is a leather interior. If I understand things correctly you would use different products to keep the seats clean and conditioned depending on what you have? Can anyone tell me what the interior on my Murano really is and what to use on it. I should know this but this is a first for us with a newer car that has "Leather" upholstery.

with a vehicle like that, if they are saying leather, it usually means vinyl backed leather on some panels of the seats or whatever, and very similar looking vinyl for other surfaces. so, for instance, the seating surfaces would be the vinyl backed leather and the sides of the bolsters and seat backs would be vinyl.

you can usually find out very technical material info from the manufacturer customer service email.

anyway, i would get Optimum Protectant Plus. you apply it every once in a while and it keeps the material looking nice and provides UV protection. it's also nice for vinyl and plastic inside the cabin.

I have a 2012 Murano and had the same questions about the materials used for the interior.

To keep it simple, I had been using Optimum Leather Protectant on all of the surfaces and was satisfied with the results, except for one section of the passenger seat where the fabric doesn't have an even color. After cleaning, I tried using Leather Master Protection Cream on just the front of the seats, and while there was some improvement in the color of the passenger seat, I'm not sure if it's from using the Cream, or that I applied it a little differently from the way I had been using the Optimum product.

In any case, I think that Optimum Leather Protectant does an excellent job, and since I know it's safe for either leather or vinyl, takes the guesswork out of what to use where.
