Is it worth switching from the Meguiar’s Water Magnet and Microfiber products to something like the Cobra Guzzler and the Cobra Supreme Microfiber Towels?

For some reason I seem to get a lot of lint with the Meguiar's I am using and it drives me nuts, would Cobra products be a better choice?

Thanks,
Chris

There was a recent thread about linting--unfortunately it's hard to answer "would xxx products be a better choice" because there seems to be a lot of batch-to-batch variation in this regard. Certainly I have seen many complaints of Cobra linting--but that's not all the products all the time.

I still use my Megs Water Magnets but I no longer use their supreme shine towels. After about three washes they began to lint really bad. As far as I can tell, once a towel begins to lint, it will lint forever until it dissolves like an old pair of underwear.

I haven't tried the Cobra's yet, but I plan to pick a few up with my next order.

I keep reading good things about the Chemical Guys Microfibers

Mustang, that seems to be what happens to my Supreme Shines and I probably wash them at least 3 times a week :)

I also tried the Vroom brand from Target. They lasted about 5 washes before they began to lint. I'm starting to think it's inevitable that linting will happen, it's just a matter of time!

One thing I started doing when I picked up some higher quality MF was to also wash it using the MF restorer. I think DP makes a good one and you can get it here from Autogeek. You could use it on the Megs towels, just don't expect miracles. I'd say no matter when or where you get your next batch of towels from, get a dedicated MF detergent with them.

For the exterior paint I have been using Cobra towells - Guzzler for drying, and miracle towels and gold plush Jr. towels for all buffing, QD, etc.

I always wash using Micro-Restore to machine wash and hang dry and have yet to encounter any linting...

Oh yes, I switched from machine drying to hang drying also. I don't trust my dryer at all to suck up all the lint that's floating around in there.

The Sonus towels are pretty good. Plus try using waffle weave for QDs and waterless washes.

+1 all my main towels are from CG, good quality and can't beat the prices they offer.

I wash them with their microfiber restore, and hang dry them. No linting experienced.

Just stocked up on Chemical Guys "red fluffer" towels. Best microfiber towel I've ever used, hands down

Same here. CG microfibers ftw people!

I went on their site and there are SO MANY to choose from! Which ones do you like for buffing, QD'ing etc?

I guess pick the girl you like the best and order the towel on her page. Pricing comments to the contrary, I don't find their pricing particularly motivating, even the "today only" pricing that is the price they have every day. Maybe I'm the new "luckiest man alive" but I've never looked at the CG website when everything hasn't on wacky super saver sale.

Ones that are totally sourced from, and manufactured in, Korea.

One Example:

-The Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler features only the highest quality Korean microfiber that goes through a unique manufacturing process to ensure that it meets the quality standards of a Cobra towel. As part of this manufacturing process, the microfiber goes through a splitting machine to make what's called "ultra microfiber". Ultra microfiber is found in every Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler drying towel because it's the softest, most plush type of microfiber available at any cost.

-Quality is in the details, and the Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler are no exception. Most towels feature a tag that's sewn on, but Cobra microfiber towels utilize a tag that's glued on so it can easily be removed. If you have a tag that's sewn on, you risk the chance of tearing the edge when you remove it.

You should always remove the tag before using your Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler.

Sounds like Cobra is the way to go

Yes...If it's "Korean Cobra", IMO.

{I believe some Cobra's are not Korean. I could be wrong, though. If concerned...Doesn't hurt to ask your vendor, as far as I know.}

Need to track down those Korean Cobras then :)

Anyone know a vendor who sells 100% Korean Cobras? :)
