I am just hetting into using a D.A.P. I quickly realized I need smaller pads and backing plates. which size pad do you use most often? Was tbinking 4in.

Also. What pad do you use most often? Blue wax pad? White?

Anyone use the microfiber pads? What do you think of them?

I have 3 & 5" BP
I use 5.5" pads most of the time and use the 3.5 or 4" pads for spot corrections

For corrections, I use the LC CCS orange pads but just made an order for the LC MF pads. For follow up for refinement, I use the LC CCS grey pads and for wax is use the red pads.

It depends 100% on what I'm trying to do and working on. I use the pad that fits the area. To polish my BMW I use 6.5" pads for the hood and doors, 5.5" pads for the trunk and quarter panels, 4" pads for the fender, and 3" pads for tight areas like the bumpers.

On a big truck you can get away with less small pads, but if your trying to polish the bumpers, license plate areas, pillars, etc.. 3-4" pads are a must IMO.

I would recommend in having a set of 3" pads, 4" pads, and 5.5" pads... if you have a larger car/truck/suv then some 6.5" pads may suit you as well. I use 5.5" pads the majority of the time, however the smaller pads are extremely helpful in tight areas such as around bumpers and pillars.

5.5 inch pads with 5 inch backing plate for Griots, PC, and Megs buffers.

I use 6" MF pads most of the time then smaller foam pads for cramped spaces and area corrections. I use 4" a lot. I think the power of your buffer makes a difference as well. It's harder to drive a larger pad so you don't want to use 6 inch pads if your buffer doesn't have enough power to drive it.

I was thinking about getting a cheap DA for using 3" pads. The cheapest seems to be the Harbor freight DA at around 60$. Anybody uses that with small pad?

Almost always 5.5 pads

Compounding: MF, LC orange, LC cyan
Polishing: LC white, black, tang
Wax: LC red or by hand...

New to the forum but I use my drill for 3" pads. I find I have more precise control that way because I'm on top of and closer to my work.

When I used a PC only 5' but now that I run a rupes 15 I run only 6'.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using AG Online

I use my 5.5 CG Hexlogic pad for minor corrections and the 5.5 CG Black Optic pad for major corrections.

6.5 for the large areas on the vehicle (e.g. hood, door, roof), 5.5 for just about everything else.
