what to buy ?????

okay guys , I am ready to purchase some items ,but I have a few questions I need to ask to help me make my final decision.
I have a dewalt dw443 random orbital machine that has a range of 4300-6000opm,is this machine to fast for polishing and minor paint correction?I also have a makita rotary as well .
I was thinking of trying some of the poorboys swirl remover ,polish and then topping with Collinit845 or natty blue ,does this sound good to start with ?
I am using this on a 2008 Honda accord ,royal blue with light to moderate swirls in the finish.
What pads should I use for each step(since I will have to buy some new pads)

I think that is all my questions guys ,any help/advice is greatly appreciated,

The OPM range of the Dewalt is within the range of a Porter Cable (2500 - 6800). The amps are just about the same at 4.3 and 4.5 respectively. The top end of 6000 for your Dewalt is just under the PC, so it will probably work for polishing. The real question is the backing plate and whether it will accept polishing pads.

The dewalt has a 6" hook and loop plate that I have used megs pads on previously,I was just wondering if the speed was too high to use swirl remover with ,I guess i should have specified that in my post,sorry

OK, then your only prob is it's a little under-powered for the 6 - 6.5 pads. Just means it will take you longer to polish. I use the Wolfgang/Menz line so no experience with how well Poorboy's works. I do use 845, very nice stuff.

I don't own a Dewalt machine but the performance specs for a dual action machine seems to be OK.

I have a Makita rotary and really like it.

Personally, I have very few Poorboy's paint correction products, not that there's anything wrong with them, I just use another manufactures products.

This trio by Menzerna is hard to beat.

You can do some forum searches on Poorboy's to get a feel for what others think of the line. I can tell you that Menz, Meguiar's, Optimum Wolfgang and a couple others are the most popular here. I used Meg's consumer line in the past along with Mother's. I did not like the Meg's consumer line and my personal opinion is that the Mother's line has cheapened over the years. I would consider the new Meg's Microfiber Polishing System Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System, paint polishing system, car polish, car detailing system, compounding system, remove scratches. However, note that using this system does requyire the use of their backing plate on the DA.

For my application on a honda paint do you think the wg twins would work the best ?

I am also thinking about new pads from LK ,maybe an orange,white ,black and a red or gold,what do you think ?

I think you'll be surprised how nice these products will breath some new life into your Honda's paint.

Lake Country makes some nice pads and I'd start off with Orange, White, and Gray..

Pads blue and rad are meant for applying sealants and waxes. I apply 95% of these two with my Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher and use either a blue or red for this.
 
"Best" is an impossible question to answer. Any of the product lines Bobby listed will do an excellent job if you use the proper techniques and processes. I can say that I have polished 3 cars with the Wolfgang polishes - a Toyota, a Hyundai and a Saturn Ion and no issues whatsoever. I will be using these prodducts on a 2011 black Lexus this weekend. However, I did read all of Mike P's articles, viewed the videos and read all of the material in the Detailing How-To's section several times before I even purchased products. I then strictly followed that information and the Wolfgang instructions.

If you can use a different backing plate on your Dewalt (likely) I would recommend switching to a 5" plate and 5.5" pads. Do a forum seach and you will find that most feel the PC is too under-powered to effectively use the 6.5" pads. Your Dewalt is slightly weaker by specs than the PC. You can draw your own conclusions from that. If you choose to do that, an orange pad and a white pad will work for a two step polish and you will need a blue pad for wax.
 
Thanks Bobby and heavy metal for all the info . I will do a little more reading before I do make an order on Ag ,but I think I will try the wg twins for sure .
