What can I use instead of clay bar that's easier and faster?

Plus one Goin Rogue post also there's a sponge and even towel version choose which you'll think will work best for you

Using a clay alternative will always be faster than actual clay.

If speed is of concern then a wash mitt is hard to beat as you can clay during the wash process. Of course use the mf side to wash and then follow up with the reverse side to clay.

If outright claying performance is desired no other way will match the power of using a machine to drive a clay pad. Especially if you are using the 3401 as the machine.

So you're washing and claying at the same time? Meaning the soapy water has enough "bite" to grab the paint contaminates?

The clay mitt is as effective as traditional clay by hand but in a fraction of the time

I used the Cobra Clay Mitt the other weekend and did exactly what you've described - 2 BM wash, then rinsed, and then grabbed the clay mitt and used the same soapy water(Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo) as my lubricant.

I'm done with clay.

The clay alternative mitts can be pretty pricey so I've been using the clay alternative sponges Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Sponge

I've had great results with the fine sponge and UWW+ as a lube--much quicker than clay and no marring.

Nothing decontamintes as efficiently as good old fashioned clay, won't touch mitts, towels and speedy prep sponges again.

Nothing wrong with that but I love my clay mitt and the results it gives me. I can and do remove the contaminants in a fraction of the time just as good as using the traditional clay bar. I've clayed my customers nasty neglected cars of 5 plus years old with the clay mitt, then went over several sections with traditional clay and it was clean as can be. No additional contaminants were being pulled off with the traditional clay after the clay mitt

I beg to differ.

I hav used Meguiar's C2100 red aggressive clay with D155 for lubrication for quite some time with great results. When I decided to try the clay alternatives I picked up both offerings (fine & medium grade) of pads and sponges from Nanoskin to see how they would stack up to the clay I have been using.

If you need efficiency, speed, power, etc. equip a 3401 with the medium foam pad and get to work. There is no clay that can match the power of this setup. Besides, working by machine is more efficient than working by hand.
