was curious what does everyone do to stay in shape?

also if you would like to mention, what kind of diet are you on?

what are your goals as well?

Any sane person would stop at detailing for ten hours a day. But my eight year old doesn't pay attention to that. We also have a few mountains here that desperately want me to climb 'em, and a sweet ice rink that I'm addicted to.

Diet = Various polishes with a dash of carnauba.

Goal = Drive into town without seeing swirls.

I try to ride my bike everyday. Twice around my neighborhood. I also try to do sit-ups and push-ups at night every other day, but it's pretty hard to stay consistent because I'm kinda lazy. I've been told I have high cholesterol, so I eat a bowl of Cheerios every morning and try to eat lean meats and avoid too much carbs. It's working out alright, but I think I was happier when the doctor had me on Crestor.

I exercise five to six days a week. I run (did 4.9 miles today), ride a mountain bike or road bike, or hit the gym. I try and run or ride the bikes 5 days a week with less strength training. I'm in the military so I'm paid to stay in shape.
I'm running a half marathon next weekend and have run two 5K races so far this year. I've done some mountain bike racing in the past but I'm working on running now. After the half, I'm training for a Triathlon in May with a couple shorter running races in between.

I try not to drink soda and limit my beers. My diet isn't the best because I like to eat. I sometimes say I run so I can eat what I like and I like cookies.

Today (typical week day) did a 45 minute walk, 20 minute lift, then a 25 mile ride on a mountain bike.

Weekends are a bit more, during the summer I will usually get in at least one 3-4 hour bike ride.

I am not currently training for anything, taking a break after finishing my second Iron Man last year. Mainly keeping up my fitness, and allowing myself to eat like I want to.

Diet- usually skip breakfast (cutting a bit of weight currently), lunch - salad, dinner pretty healthy, but Fridays are my free day :)

I smoked a cigar in the garage last night while quick detailing, then went for a 50 minute run...

I felt like exercising yesterday. Then I laid down until the feeling went away. (W.C. Fields?)

/seriously, I need to get serious about some cardio. Probably eliptical to keep from further annoying my knees...

I've been doing P90x for two years and love it. I wish they would have had this program when I was 16. It's also changed my eating style. You don't diet, you change your eating habits. Fruit and veggies are now a daily routine. I've cut back in the junk but still have the occasional potato chip and I'll never quit ice cream.

I have been on weight watchers since this past November and Im down 35 lbs.

I just watch what I eat for the most part. Detailing all day every day helps also, but I am a cyclist.

I am slammed busy between my two businesses right now, but when I have free time I try to put in around 200 miles a week on my bike.

Workout about 5-6 days a week for 90 minutes lift/cardio :)

Wife is dietician so she keeps me on track!

Since many of you ride bikes, I figured some bike porn was needed for this exercise thread. I'll start.

And a few others not really worth mentioning.

I noticed in my 30's that I was gaining weight. I am typically a smaller build , but several years of midnight shift in law enforcement I had gained about 20 lbs. The problem was that I really did not notice the weight until an annual physical. From that point forward, I joined a gym (I usually go 3 -4 times a week). I do weights, followed by some cardio. I still eat pretty much what I want but limit empty calories (switched from regular to diet sodas and definitely watch my sugar). I have lost that 20 lbs and have maintained my weight within 2 lbs for the last 3 years. I also play (poorly) in a coed over 30 soccer team.

It's also changed my eating style. You don't diet, you change your eating habits. Fruit and veggies are now a daily routine.

I'm back on P90X too, had a shoulder injury last year and finally getting back to 100%.

I work in healthcare and the mentality of "dieting" has to change. It is simply eating right and taking care of your body.

Most people have lived an essentially sedentary life and practiced a terrible diet for decades. America has mastered an unhealthy lifestyle. My patients tell me all the time "You're lucky, you're skinny, you don't know how hard it is." I tell them I workout 1 hour to 1.5 hours a day 6 days a week, eat healthy and I've done that for 15 years. It's called hard work and dedication.

It's making simple decisions daily to live a healthy lifestyle. How hard is it to make a decision? If you want it bad enough, you do it.

My favorite quote from an Endocrinologist I know, "If we sewed your mouth shut, you'd lose weight." It's harsh I know, but much of weight loss is simple math. Burn more energy than you consume.

My exercise consist of going out and eating Popeye's twice a week after school!:xyxthumbs:

:iagree:
you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink, and that is similar in context to putting someone on or around gym/excercise equipment but can't force them to use it. i use to run 2-4 miles 4 times week, but now instead swim more often at around 4-5 times a week (running is hard on the joints). it's like getting cardio and light resistance workout all in one, and IMO is the best kind of exercise there is as it works most of the entire body. this guy below has motivated me to push myself more and learn how to swim properly and the butterfly stroke (hardest and most disciplined stroke to do) is what i've been focusing on the past few months and i would like to do it longer at least two to three continuous laps in a row (50-75 meters). to everyone on here who is active, keep it up!!! you only have one body and it's your health that matters the most over any material thing. what good is life if you don't have your health...
