what's the last car care/detailing video you've just watched?

I remember the first time a commenter brought up the THOR topic on a TRC Q&A. Those videos are shot and viewed live, mainly because it's an interactive production that sustains itself via live comments and questions. In other words, not editing. Without thinking, Dane read out the comment about THOR....................you could've cut the air with a butter knife, the look on Anthony and Levi's face said it all, likewise a few mumbled ums and ahs before they swiftly moved on.
I can't watch those TRC casts because of Dane

I will leave it at that

Bradley foamed a Porsche GT4 from the top down

I guess I need to compose an email to him informing him that he is a hack

I'm surprised the car didn't explode

Some tidbits from video. Listening more than watching.

1. On Dr G, he said if someone had stolen something there would have been lawsuits and there have been none against him or Dan(?). He said he left Optimum because it became "work" and not "fun". The decision was apparently made abruptly,
2. The economy is softening. Detailers should raise prices.
3. A light polish on a coating can improve look if coating was over applied (he thinks many overapply with cross hatch pattern). T
4. His explanation of the Perfectly Safe brush leads to conclusion that bristles are just flagged more. Since they are out of stock, one commenter wanted to know if another brand was sufficiently flagged. Yvan complained that the noodle mf mitt traps dirt but to me it means it cleans better. He did not mention the sponge also trapping dirt.
5. DIY Detail uses 5 or 6 chemists (each for their specialty)
6. On Pan, he just says Pan got into trouble since he called his best in the world
7. A "green liquid" product coming in October to replace an existing one (not a V2).
8. States hydrophobics is not a measure of coating presence. That is, if it loses properties, it is still protecting. Question was a response to a comment that some multi-year coatings lost hydrophobics in under a year.
9. Chelsea did state they had to agreed to disagree on a couple of tips.
10. Chelsea felt women detailers do not get same recognition as men. Yvan's comment was given that most maids are women they know a lot more about cleaning than men.

Yvan was his usual confident self with an answer for everything.

It seemed to be answered in this comment on TRC's video.
That was a joke--but since you brought it up--I presume that's the video where he says right at the beginning that Trim+ is a ceramic coating. It seems he refers to it as a ceramic coating until you ask about recoating--then he says it isn't a ceramic coating. In what you posted, he said it isn't "ceramic", whatever that is supposed to mean.

Sounds like the long sought-after liquid Kryptonite to me.

I don't know, that kind of makes sense to me. But they used to say this about sealants, too, and the problem is, after the beading is gone, how do you tell when the rest of the sealant/coating is gone, too, along with your protection?

The follow up question is just how do you judge the coating is working but was not asked.

That's deflection at its finest. That was enough for the cult to say "yeah, makes sense and we still love you" when the truth is so many of those laws have been modified to make this nearly impossible now.

What are you talking about?
A minor tweak to a formula is nearly enough to differentiate anymore. But a lot of non-compete laws and restrictive covenants in employment contracts are not even valid anymore. Colorado throws most out nowadays unless you meet very specific criteria. This isn't political at all, been happening for many years now.

He's just deflecting here by stating that.

There is one aspect that must bleed over. Once a chemist learns that combining certain chemicals has some effect such as maybe a stabilizer, better cleaner, etc. These cannot be unlearned so some learning must be passed on to future products. This may even mean the method used.

For example, if a baker learned add baking soda with an acid and baking powder helps leavening, I would guess he would reuse this combo in future products.

I refuse to watch his videos, that said, his "1." smells like number 2.

Channeling the business law class I was forced to take years ago in college, if Dr. G's ONR formula was not protected by a patent (like OCW is) and Ivan didn't sign an NDA, then Dr. G probably does not have much grounds to sue over. He would also have to allege and prove damages. But Dr. G claims Optimum has always had great market share. I'm assuming at the time Ivan left, Dr. G was still recovering from his illness and more focused on regaining contol and the daily functions of his business. Also, by the time Ivan found the "financing" to get dyi going, we were down the road on the number of ONR versions, so what Ivan stole was not really relevant anymore. And don't forget, litigation costs money (on both sides).

I forgot to add, Ivan got lucky on several things. He needs to wipe the smirk off his face.

Yes, exactly. His #1 was a simple deflection that should confuse nobody. Dr G. knows his slim hope of courtroom success would cost too much money/time. It's like suing your employer, a no-win situation really.

So what you are saying is Yvan is a sleazy buddy fu**er? He got to where he is by stabbing former friends in the back?

Wow, you're on a roll. I haven't watched that (2 hour!) video with Dr. G, but that seems like a complicated situation and that if things got rewound, I doubt anyone intended for it to be acrimonious. OPT is a small business, and if Dr. G got suddenly ill and wasn't there, I'm sure there was a lot of concern from the employees about their future, and I would venture that Yvan and Dann stepped up and filled the void.

When Dr. G recovered, I guess he didn't like the way the void got filled, and probably Yvan and Dann felt underappreciated. Again, I haven't watched the vid, and of course that's only one side of it (and I guess Yvan has a video with his side). What I'm saying is that if Dr. hadn't gotten sick it wouldn't be surprising to me if Yvan and Dann still worked at OPT today. Anyway, I've seen this kind of thing play out at small companies.

Well Setec,
One thing I have observed repeatedly is a lot (but not all) successful people got to the top of their game by screwing many along the way and they seem to do it with no shame or regrets. What's even worse is they seem to do their sleazy, despicable acts under the guise of "fair play".

We may never really know what actually happened in this mini drama fest. I’m not watching anything from Ivan, since at the least, he’s in CYA and face saving mode, with a large ego to boot. I generally don’t believe much of what he says since his departure from OPT. I actually felt sorry for him when he was doing his mobilehome road show across America, doing RW demos with other peoples products.

Upon Dr. G’s return, did Ivan want a piece of the business, a bump in pay or the continued “control” of the business? Is Dr. G a bear to work for? We don't know. In the brief conversations I've had with Ron at OPT, over the last several months, if the Ivan subject ever came up, he always took the high road. Very professional and above board. If a lawsuit is ever filed, I will be more interested since both sides will have to backup what they say. Everything else over social media is just ego farting.
