what's the last car care/detailing video you've just watched?

I have this other fantastic (ha) hobby, stamp collecting, and I always have something else on to watch/listen. The last two weeks I have been watching a lot of YT videos and trying to find ones from the lesser known content creators. THOR especially DIY Detail are pumping out the content so flooding to alter YT algorithms. I did see a video with Yvan where he said DIY Detail grossed over $2 Million in sales. THOR and others are sending products to influencers.

I have to give it to Yvan as the best educator with doing with talking ,method with Nick with the role often as the dumb noobie as opposed to Pan's. Of course they are selling products directly directly or indirectly or via affiliate links.

Watch this one from DPC
Well, I think this settles the "can you make money on YouTube" discussion; in the first minute he says he has been away from YouTube for 4 years, and that in his best year, he made $250,000...FROM YOUTUBE, and that his best month was $36,000.

One YT creator that did exercise videos said they were able to move out of an apartment and get a house with the YT money.

I have no issue with it but it tends to ruin some people due to inflated egos and quest for fan. The 1957 movie "Face in a Crowd" is a typical example.

I saw where he stated that as well. I'm not sure what to believe. I've heard others say the money they make is peanuts. If what he said is true then he must be the rare exception. Also if he was making that kind of money why did he stop???
Also I have wondered why so few of them ever visit this site? The vast majority of the videos are just hawking a particular product. That's boring and will quickly become unwatched.

Perhaps he continued making decent money from YouTube without having to add new content. He also started up his own web store, and I think he has his own coating line now. Perhaps his YouTube revenue fell off so he decided to start making vids again.

Because there is no audience here. The Guz, who was a frequent poster here, rarely stops by now and focuses on his YouTube channel.

Because there is no audience here.
They dont always have to be in performance mode. Visits to this site would allow them to keep pace with whats going on in detailing. Maybe, just maybe, they would learn something by interacting on this site.

This is a true statement. I still linger around from time to time to see what is going on.

Back in the day Pan was on here and he got roasted to the point where he left the forum as others deemed him posting his videos as spam and not helping out the forum community.

Forums are and have been a dying breed. Some have gone to YouTube and other to Facebook groups and sometimes both. AGO used to be a great place to be when Mike Phillips was around passing around his knowledge. Unfortunately those times have come and gone.

THOR has a We are Detailing phone app that they are rolling out. THOR has been pumping out the videos. especially shorts. Judging by some, either the market overall is softer and/or the competition is greater.

I watched a review by Keiv on the Griots foam cannon and did some side by side tests. I though it did a decent job (would satisfy many) but others did better. I noted it did the job but he remarked it was not the best.

That is the mindset of some YT that drives reviews of what is best and why there is this review cycle where companies release new products or updated formulas so they can get into creator what is best review cycle. Many dislike THOR but they feeding the YT creators. It is a cycle. Some like Mike G (Guz) mentions sleepers.

Pan - Not a fan of his nice looking sterile videos done in his living room. It does not looked used.
Keiv - typical seems more focused on pressure washers. I have liked a copy of his videos/
Out of spec - decent info but his videos run long with his slower methodical style.
Josh V - fast delivery with sales but something genuine
Detailing Dogma - I always skip to end.
Yvan/Nick - do and talk in a real world place (not a livng room). Yvan is best when answering questions but seems there is that inconsistent sell talk (rinseless. foam wash foam).
Guz - casual unrehearsed style. I will speed up some of his videos. I like that he compares aspects of brands without demeaning it/
I have seen occasionally a YT creator (not usually the above) and take a OTC brand to use all their products.

Wasnt around when Pan was posting here but i assume there is some truth to the reason he was roasted.
Agree the forums are dying breed. Yes Mike Phillips has plenty of detailing knowledge however so do many others. Would hope if one devotes their life to a certain skill they become very knowledgeable on the subject. You Tube is not a replacement for forums. The majority of You Tube content is people hawking/selling products.
I like the instructional videos and those that demonstrate and compare products but the sellers are not worthy of my time. The THOR gang is all over YT selling their products.
Dont really do Facebook alot so cant really comment on the quality of their content.

I see little meaning content on Facebook. Reddit most content is people asking how do I fix this paint or interior issue. Little show and tell.

Facebook is usually how I find about new products/brands.

At this point, I've got too many foam cannons. I needed this dual chamber one years ago.

I'm very interested in the new content to come for Dr Beasley's later this week... wheels are my excuse for not using rinseless more often.

Then we will have two chamber pump up sprayers rather than buy two individual ones.

I am sure those who do not Pan or THOR will like this video.

I also wonder how much detailing Pan actually does. Everything on his shelf looks new and rarely used. Scott went after Pan on old products and some near full such as the leather product,. Most everything in his best was a THOR sold product and mostly the private label brews.

I do believe being in the THOR family has changed him since he has an obligation to the parent company.

I watched this ^^^^ video. There are several points he makes that I agree with and some I dont however his motivation for making this video is unclear. I wrote Pan off after his awards debacle.

He has another video that was posted on THOR YT that demands openness and clarity by THOR. He talks like private label is bad.. I bet these chemists love the enthusiast community because it brings in business. The traditional make their own products that have structured sales and distribution are not nearly as quick to refresh their lines. If I want my own custom chocolate chip recipe cookie to sell I am going to a baking place to produce. We know marketing is far more important than product.

I wouldn't say it's bad but tend to avoid private label/contract blended products. Many of the sheep defend products such as the $100.00 ( more like $125.00 with tax and shipping ) soap. They think these influencers are something special and probably think the influencers actually give a rats ass about them. I much prefer products that are made by the name on the label. Not that private label products are inferior just more expensive than they should be.
He brings up a good point about the name on the label and the blender can and do come to a disagreement and all of a sudden they are coming out with a version 2 or 3 claiming it's a product improvement. Meantime they had to find a new blender. To be honest I don't see many of these private labels lasting long term.
Seems like he is saying things are not as they appear on the surface.

He tried to allude to the fact these are the same products just with fancier labels.

To me, it does not matter if someone goes out of business or teams break up. We have choices.

His next video Scott will be telling us "Who's your Daddy" in regards to the real money man behind THOR, DIY, Detail Co, Clean etc, etc.

Were you as underwhelmed with that as I was? Seems like there are plenty of other products already you could use that way. Plus I'm sure it's going to be expensive.
