what's your weather currently like?

I saw video from Austin TX with cars spinning and sliding down ice covered roads, I guess they don't get much of that in Texas. Not saying I'd be much good on black ice either, we never get that cold here.

I was in San Antonio, TX last week but got back before the ice. They're just not as equipped for treating the roads like we are up north. I was there same time last year and they got a little snow. The highways were completely empty.

My sister in law lives in Arkansas.
They had cold weather warnings earlier this week.
'Frigid' +10F to 20F.
In MN, we call that a warm January day. I know Canadians roll their eyes at that.

Currently 7F here, but at least the sun is out.
Highs around 10F through Friday and then heat wave rolls in.
Suppose to be close to 30F next week, just in time for high school alpine slalom sectional tournament (pretty much a full day of standing outside).

Heat and smoke YUK did you stay indoors, and can you smell it through the A/C unit
Yeah, we spent most of the day inside, AC on, and it does not suck the smoke in, but you do need to shut all the doors and windows when there's smoke about, but that's normal on hot days anyway. Mum has asthma as well, so we need to avoid letting the smoke in.

Took the dogs for a walk tonight, there was a few people out, some were even jogging in the smoke, crazy fools.PSX_20260130_221102.jpg

Forecast is up to 6 or 7 inches of snow starting tonight into Saturday. Some rural roads (shady spots) have not had all the ice cleaned up.

We got our natural gas (heat in winter, water heater) and electric bills - very high,

-4 leaving work last night. Between the overtime and temps this week sucked!

Right now I would take that, we hit 37C at 2:29pm, but it's supposed to top out at 22C tomorrow.
It's actually 15c with 37km/h gusts I think snow down to 900 metres,

I'd would melt in your temps Dave unless I had direct access to a beach
but then you got them big ass 🦈

The cool change arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning, ending a 7-day heatwave. Was nice to open the house up and let some fresh air blow through. Temps will return to the mid 30's by Wednesday, but at least there is some reprieve.

The cool change rolled through here mid afternoon, but the temps dropped slowly, it blew the smoke away fast though. We had a couple of thunder storms early this evening. One was coming in as I walked the dogs, I even saw a guy washing his CX-5 in his driveway as the rain started, seemed perfectly reasonable to me.
