Do wheels need a coating designed just fir them or will the same painting from your paint work just fine?

I usually favour a spray on rinse off sealant, but that's on factory wheels. On my black powder coated wheels I tried a few different things, waxes, coatings, but they were cheap wheels with a cheap finish and nothing lasted, so just went with 303 Touchless Sealant. But recently, after using NV Jet on the FJ's paint, I also cleaned up the wheels on both the FJ and Qashqai and put Jet on them as well, but they are both very easy wheels to work with.

Editing to add that I really like the wheels on your new Bronco, but I'm not sure how easy they will be to keep clean.

A paint coating will work just fine. They have a high temperature resistance. No need for a dedicated wheel coating.

Agree. I've used left over paint coating on my wheels with great success multiple times. I've never seemed to feel the need to buy yet another product just to protect my wheels.

Over the years I've used paint coatings, paint sealants, and even the spray on rinse off products. Each one has it's advantages, but those paint products all worked just fine.

I've pointed this out before, when people yelp about how hot wheels get, how hot does black paint get on the hood of your car when the engine is running in the Arizona summer sun? Unless you are tracking the car and getting the rotors red hot, I would argue your wheels don't get any hotter than the aforementioned hood.

Spray on rinse off coating or sealant. Easy. Once applied wheels just need cleaned with soap and water.
