When is a polish ready to be buffed off?

I have seen a few vids, but they never explain it well. When do you know when the polish is ready to come off? Does it look a certain way? Will time work the best (I read 3-5 minutes)? I suppose time would work best for a newbie correct?

Depends on the polish, the pads, the tool, the speed of the tool.

Using a DA (probably a 7424) with Menzerna and a white pad.

It is going to take several minutes, when it goes transparent with oil streaks in it you are good to go.
