When should you polish an entire car?

If you only have a couple of scratches and swirls on a couple locations where you can spot polish, should you polish the entire car?

If it doesn't show the difference between the polished and unpolished side, than go for it. No need to remove clear coat if it isn't necessary.

I do; but, it's usually by using just a very
fine polish on the rest of the vehicle; and
then that's only (at the most): a couple
times a year.

Besides having the entire vehicle's paint
surfaces receive "uniform-material-removal"...
I look at polishing as another paint cleaning
and gloss enhancing method.

I'm with Bob on this one. I typically do my cars once a year just to keep them looking good. By only doing spots I'd be afraid of the finish becoming uneven. Even when doing spot corrections you not only remove the defects but it also cleans up the paint by removing embedded grime your clay bar can't get out. By only doing spots I'd be afraid of the car starting subtly spotted.

I usually do mine 2x a year after I decontaminate/clay. At that point the whole car needs it.
