Low temp, normal dryness, delicate fabric. I set mine on regular which runs until it detects they are dry. Works fine.

For washing I set mine on delicate, cold, medium speed, 2 rinses which uses vinegar in the second rinse.

ok i thought we shouldn't run it on any kind of heat temp even low ? Also on regular, you are referring to my fabric selection right ?

Also what is the different between Temperature vs Dryness Setting ? I understand in dryness setting if u choose MORE then it will take more time to get more dry but doesn't that mean it will use HEAT or is that just more time in there with just regular blowing air ?

I wash mine on HOT or EXTRA HOT and then dry on LOW.

My mother helped me with this question. Now silk is more delicate than MF. MF is actually a very tough material.

You wash silk in warm water.

So I wash my MF on regular warm water, 20 minute cycle.

I dont put mine in a dryer. I take them out of the washer, shake them so the fibres fluff up again, then hang them on a clothes rack to dry.

I have put some in the dryer before (junk ones I use around the house) and I found the heat can make them loose their fluffy nappe.

I also started using a dedicated MF detergent, I used to think they were $$$ gimmicks, but I am sold, it really does work well.

Don't baby your microfibers, or they won't grow up to be men!

Hot water, plenty of detergent, hot dryer. If you have good quality towels, none of that will bother them. If they are crappy quality, they will curl a little at the edges, still fine.

My theory of why so many people have problems with their MF's is hard water mineral buildup.

+2,

Hot Water (Max out water heater if needed), Extra Rinse

Tuble Dry Low, 30 - 45 Min (IPA your dryer drum if you use alot of dryer sheets on regular clothers)

Pre-Soak 24 hours in a 5 gallon bucket with All Free and Clear or a designated MF Soap to get the majority of your polishes, cleaners & LSP out of the towel before they even go through your washer.

I use Snappy-Clean or the DP equivalent for pre-soak, most of the time.

I don't dry my MFs in the dryer (at least I didn't used to). The reason? I used to use dryer sheets in my dryer and they can leave a "film" on the dryer bin that can rub off during other cycles. Because of this I got into the habit of air drying my towels.

We don't use the dryer sheets anymore. Now we use dryer balls. I think if you use or have used dryer sheets, air drying might be the way to go.

All you have to do is a quick IPA wipedown of your dryer drum and your GTG if you use the dryer sheets.:xyxthumbs:

I'm curious, does anyone have any documentation from MF towel manufacturers on what they recommend? We often look to the manufacturer to tell us the best way to dillute certain chemicals, or for the best application of a certain product, but I can't say I've ever seen anything on what the manufacturer recommends on cleaning their towels.

So, did you ever obtain information from any manufacturers on MF cleaning? Or have you established your own MF cleaning regime?

Thanks.

Half soap/half Woolite warm water, extra rinse, extra spin. Normal agitation on drums that don't have the tall agitator, delicate on those that do.
If your washer has a polyester setting that'll be close.

Dryer setting for warm, "more dry".

I built a custom cycle in my washer for car towels (cotton) and microfiber towels. Then it'll teansmit to the dryer via serial cable what it should do based on the wash. (It weighs the wash load to figure out how much water and how long to wash and spin.)

Oh, and yes I've gone all OCD and keep a 50% IPA bottle in tje laundry room. Wipe down the washer and dryer before doing microfiber. The washer isn't as important as it's rinsed out any softener, but the dryer doesn't hurt to be wiped down.

Cold water wash with a free and clear detergent and dry on low heat has worked well for me so far.

dry on a line out side in the sun.dryers are not cheap to run every day.

But be sure to rewash due to the neighborhood pigeons, crows, pelicans, and condors that all have an excellent sense of where to make their "drops" to be the most annoying.
