Hello everyone. I just signed on and this is my first post. i just bought a brand new honda element and was wondering when would be a good time for the first wax? I have heard many people say I should wait for six months before doing so because the paint is new and soft? thanks in advance.

Eh. I say wax on with your bad self. Its not like they painted it the day you bought it.

I spent 5 hours on my car the day I bought it. You wouldn't think a brand new car would benefit from a good detail, but it does. Wax will protect the paint if nothing else, so it is never too soon to get protection on it.

Factory paint is cured when it leaves the plant. It's never to soon and if OCD says so you can take it to the bank.

the day of purchase ... and if dealer preped it first ... then consider starting from scratch via finishing polish at least and moving to the sealant or carnuaba of your choice to protect.

I agree w/everyone, wax away. :iagree: My NBP Element came from the dealer w/hard water spots on the roof; didn't realize until I got it home and shoulda taken it back, but I decided to tackle it by polishing by hand and applying Meg's NXT, then DP Final Finish Boost. Got most of the spots out, but I think machining would've gotten better results. Next investment, PC for sure!

Try not to let the dealer wash the car. They induce many swirls (at least on my mom's car) and is a waste of time. Enjoy your new car and welcome to the forum!

I would start with claying first. The paint may have some contaminants from shipping on the paint. Then you could polish if it needs it, then the wax or sealant of your choice!!
