I’ve been looking through the product review posts for reviews on shampoos looking for the bang for the buck soap. I’ve been using Griot’s Garage Car wash and I don't have any issue with it, I'm experimenting. I washed the cars yesterday with some Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild I just received. Because it was 37 degrees out I didn’t linger. The cars were very dirty due to recent inclement weather and they looked good when I finished. I can’t say if Born To Be Wild performed any better than Griot’s would have. Dodo Born To Be Wild is a bit expensive, so what’s the bang for the buck weekly shampoo?

Meguiar's D111 Shampoo is my weekly, very cost effective. Give it a whirl

Finish Kare 118, or my fav- FK 1016, buying by the gallon-- Duragloss #902

Wolfgang auto bath works awesome.

Oh my; this stuff is mad expensive (but I love it) compared to some of the cheaper alternatives! :( I wish it wasn't or else I'd stock multiple gallon bottles haha!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any CG car washes? Which, if you get from CG directly, can be literally like, $18 for a gallon bottle?
E.g. citrus wash and gloss is something between $16-18 from CG directly, and for a maintenance wash, it's diluted to only 1oz/5gallons; crazy cheap per wash! as opposed to duragloss, which is around the $20's, but requires 1oz/gallon, so cost per wash definitely goes up.
I really like Glossworkz and citrus wash and gloss and citrus daily clear; all dilute to 1oz/5 gallons so although glossworkz may be $40, it still runs cheaper than some other washes.

There's also the suggestion of ultima paint guard wash, which has a high dultion rate at 1oz/5galons as well, and supposedly cleans very very well (I just ordered it a couple days back along with a bunch of other soaps I want to try, so I'll be able to play with it once it warms up hear).

Anyways, there are lots of choices, and people will always tell you different ones they prefer, but keep in mind it all depends on the kind of wash you want as well; i.e. strong cleaning, or LSP safe that's more gentle, or a gloss enhancing soap, or one that even adds abit of wax protection ontop. This is why I'm ordering like, 15 different soaps in my next order LOL while I already have a gallon each of glossworkz, citrus wash and gloss, duragloss 901, etc., I'm still on the lookout for something that's better, so that I'll never have to wonder and second-guess myself as to whether or not I made the right purchase

It's been some time, but Costco had Meg's Gold Class Shampoo (1 gal) for like 6 bucks. Talk about bang for your buck and it cleans good.

Duragloss offers some of the most outstanding products that won't empty your wallet....:props:

Duragloss #901

Duragloss #931
Yeh bang for the buck, Duragloss all the way. Used in the past, and getting back into detailing went right back to it. Just so slick, smells great, cleans great etc.. and it's cheap vs so many others. Little goes a long way to, suds like crazy.

Huh... For some reason I can't edit my post... But looking at the link I may have gotten my dilution ratio for duragloss wrong; it's quoting 1oz/3 gallons, which is far more economical than 1oz/gallon. At this rate it's more in line with the CG and other high dilution washes, which makes it fantastic given it's ridiculously low price and slick lubricity.

There are many at a similar price point. I don't think soap is an item to buy on price alone though. 1Z Glos, Optimum, Sonax, CG CW & G are all very good. If your looking for something that is good & cheap, you'll probably want to get it by the gallon. Mr Pink & Maxi Suds are about $20 a gallon.

Duragloss 901 bottle states 1 ounce per gallon of water, AG website says 1 ounce per 3 gallons, I'm assuming the manufacturer bottle is correct. That brings the cost of a Duragloss 901 product far ahead of Chemical Wash and Clear for example.
Not including tax or shipping
901 is 5.99 a bottle, 37 cents and ounce, 1.50 per wash of 4 gallons water
CG Wash&Clear is 12.99 a bottle, 81 cents an ounce, 41 cents a wash (one capful) with 4 gallons water

Duragloss 901 costs more than 3 times as much as Chemical Guys Wash and Clear , Wash and Gloss is even cheaper.

Also not trying to start flame war, I dilute DG901 down 50%, about 1 ounce to 2 gallons, but per manufacturer directions, its way more expensive than people think. Even at my dilution ration its more expensive than CG shampoos. About 75 cents per wash of 4 gallons versus 41 cents with Wash and Clear. (I round up thousandths of cents)

Megs gold class is a good soap. Good lubricity, good suds, good cleaning. Dilution makes it not so great at 1oz to 1 gal.

CG wash and gloss I find to be very lubricious, cleans extremely well, and excellent dilution ratio. For the price can't go wrong.

Prima mystique I bought to try and found it to be sub par. Didn't seem to clean well, no suds, modest lubricity.

Hyper wash was so so. Wasn't really a fan.

When I don't do a rinseless CWG is my new go to soap. Interested in duragloss though.

If you are talking strictly price per wash...its hard to beat either Megs Hyper wash or one of the CG washes bought by the gallon in volume.

However, I gladly pay more per wash to have DG 901 on the shelf (coupled with 1/2 oz ONR per wash) and its my all time favorite wash combo.
