Hello all,

I hate washing my car and figure the foam cannon will help loosen up the stubborn dirt making my life easier as I usually wash it once a month at best.

With so many models i'm not sure which one to get, reading previous posts it seems most of them are made in the same factory. I've heard a lot of good feedback on the Autobrite Snow foam lance but would love to get a second opinion on it or if there are any other better products.

I currently use Meguiars gold class but i'm unsure if it works well in the cannon or strips LSP. I'm considering using Chemical guys or optimum car wash (optimum is much cheaper to buy in Australia). The cars protected with Collinite 845 but soon I may switch to Sonax Polymer net shield.

Can anyone recommend a good quality soap which won't break the bank ?

Thank you for any help.

Optimum works well in a foam cannon, as does chemical guys honeydew. Use a bit less product to get the same level of foam with the CG honeydew, and it tends to mix easier for me with water when diluting in the reservoir.

I use an MTM cannon myself, but the reviews of the AG cannon are good as well. Don't know anything about the lance you've mentioned.

You'll get very mixed reviews on whether foaming actually helps with the release of dirt, but I still do it anyway.

The sonax PNS will definitely help with keeping the vehicle clean.

i just ordered a mtm foam cannon from chemical guys

it should be here friday

Im excited to try out different soaps to see what works

Im going to try :

1. glosswerks (chemical guys)
2. body wash and wax (chemical guys)
3. car brite carolina wash and wax

4. I want to order meguires hyper wash

Sonax PNS is good stuff :)

Meg GC soap
Meg hyper wash
Duragloss 902
Optimum car wash all works good
Get those easily available to you.

I use 4 shampoos in mine.
CG Honeydew
CG Mr. Pink
Duragloss 901
Meguiar's Hyoerwash

I always mix at least 2, and pour the leftover into a 64oz bottle. Generally it's DG901 and one of the CG shampoos OR Hyperwash and one of the other three. Hyperwash has the thickest, stickiest suds of the bunch. Duragloss 901 is the slickest of the bunch.

Chemical Guys Honeydew or Mr Pink for me.

For the cannon, I use the MTM that is specific for cold water electric pressure washers.

For maintenance washes, +1 on CG honeydew. For deeper cleaning I'll throw some CG Citrus Wash and Clean at a higher concentration. Both are not significantly more expensive than the Megs Gold Class.

I have run Gold Class threw it as well and it works decently. I use the autogeek Cannon.

While i do have a foam cannon; I am currently of the opinion & observation that it really doesn't do much. I can clean and loosen as much dirt simply using a pressure washer as I can spraying a car down with foam. In reality most soaps require agitation to work, so spraying on some foam does very little other than look good.

I say use a pressure washer and wash as normal.

The key is to pressure wash before touching the paint :D

If you're going to use a foam gun, make sure to use something that has great suds, is concentrated, and has a low price.

Usually using a few ounces per 2-3 washes (max), it does add up especially if you mix wash solution in addition to the foam gun.

Duragloss, Hyper Wash, Megs Gold Class would all be good options.

•I don't figure (or am I really convinced) that foaming a
vehicle ever does any actual cleaning...
-let alone having the ability to loosen stubborn dirt.

•I suppose that if a person perceives some kind of benefit,
that they believe far outweighs the time/effort involved...
-Then foam away.
-I, however, have never derived at that perception.

•Then again:
-There's also people who think the whole "proper-detailing-thing" can be considered punctilious, persnickity, particular, picky.......

I've always loved Optimum products and over here 1 gallon is $40- $50 where as CG is $70-80. Which is a big difference, happy to pay it if its worth it. My biggest concern is people have mentioned CG Maxi suds and Mr pink can strip LSP but not sure if thats because they've made it too concentrated.

Whats the benefit of combining the two different products ?

Chemical Guys Honeydew or Mr Pink for me.

Whats the difference between the Honeydew and Mr pink? Which do you prefer ?

Yeah i'm happy to pay for quality but I don't want to overspend if I can get as good of a product for cheaper. I plan to keep Gold class as my two bucket wash soap.

Theres a product called Magifoam by Autobrite which gets really good reviews and a product by Mint (made in germany) so I want to see how they compare against Optimum. Leaning more towards these 3 products since they're better value as CG but seem to clean as well if not better. Magifoam has a dwell time of up to 30 minutes so that should be interesting.

The only real differences that I've found between Honeydew and Mr Pink are:

Honeydew produces a slightly thicker foam
Mr pink rinses off easier

They are both very good, though. I lean towards mr pink.

Does the process actually do anything? Probably not. I've not noticed a difference in the end result vs not foaming. I just like doing it.

If you have a foam cannon and if you want foam, I would recommend Optimum. The suds have a half life of hours and can be a tad difficult to remove (stick to paint but that is based upon diltution) but you have the pressure washer. It also works fine in a bucket so a nice pre-soak (no rinse) then wash solution.

duragloss, hyper wash, 3D pink car soap, just a name a few all work well with both the foam gun/cannon...

Stegs what psi pressure washer do you have? I just ordered a MTM from them as well. I just got the Autogeek one the other day but it has a Max psi of 2600psi and my pressure washer is 3000psi. I don't feel comfortable going over. It looks like a pretty nice one though
