What are your go to MF's (brands/sizes) for:
1. Drying
2. Wax as you Dry products such as DG 951
3. Rinseless wash products such as Meg's 115
4. Wax removal
5. Spray detailers such as Meg's QW
6. Glass
7. Any other applications?
Or, is there one MF that can do it all? Thanks.

Microfiber Tech 360GSM and 530GSM will do them all.

The 530's are super durable and work great for everything, including rinseless washing.
The 530's also come in a larger size to use as a drying towel.

The 360's are a bit softer, and will also work for everything from compound to sealant removal. They just don't dry as well.

If you want something 'nice' just for the heck of it, grab their 470 (which is actually a 513) Korean split weave edgeless towels. Those would be for QD and dusting work.

Another AMAZING drying (and they even have a polishing size) towel are the ones from Duragloss. They are expensive, but they are very VERY GOOD! I thing the large one is something like $23 but it's a great towel for anything from polish removal, to LSP removal, to drying duties.

My nephew came down from Clemson for Christmas Eve dinner and wanted to snow foam, wash, do his entire exterior on his 2012, black 3 Series. I left him alone for a bit (I was looking after a 15 pound prime rib roast) and went back outside to find him drying the car with it, and applying DG951. I told him I'd never dried a car with it, just done QD, spray wax work.

I use the thin general purpose MF's for interior cleaning and have some black ones for jambs, engine, wheel well edges, etc.

see above

1. Drying- Korean waffle weave (rag co, MFT, and the MM waffle weave is Korean I believe). Plush- MM dry me crazy.

2. Wax as you dry- Rag Co waffle weave, followed by final buff with MFT edgeless Korean 470's.

3. Rinseless - MM blue 800's and MFT 600's or grey/blue 700.

4. Wax removal. For paste waxes, the AG miracle towel is really good, but I am not crazy about the stiff borders of that towel. For sealants and glazes, MM crazy pile.

5. Instant detaillers, BSD, d156, prima slick, etc - gold plush jr and final wipe with MFT edgeless Korean 470's.

6. Glass - exterior WW.

7. Other- polish removal: MM yellow fellow 2.0 (best by far) or AG 530's.
Interior and misc - MFT 360, 400. Awesome value.
Wheels and tires. Black MF pockets and basic black border-less from MFT.
Sacrificial towels, engine and messy jobs - Costco.

There are many, many nice towels on the market these days!

Just wanted to add that I didn't specifically mention the Cobra (foam core) guzzlers or the Korean waffle weaves from Microfiber Tech because I was thinking that the OP was looking at the minimum he could get away with. (Without dropping over $1000 on towels.)

I've found the 530's to be darned good drying towels! I trust them more than the much thinner Korean waffle weaves actually. (FWIW I do have a lot of other waffle weaves, various sizes and weights, but I really don't trust any of them on paint other than the Korean and Cobra guzzlers.)

With the 360's & 530's that'd cover pretty much anything and everything. Then add in a 36 count of the Costco Kirkland gold towels and he'd have jamb and interior towels. That'd be enough to cover the bases.

Another option would be the new "white" 800's and 850's from MFT and TRC. Those are really nice, but I don't know if I'd want to take a chance on ruining one doing drying duties with it.

Also have the 1100 GSM "Blue Whale" towels. Bet those would dry like crazy! They would also weigh in at 6 pounds (if not more) soaking wet too!!!!!!!

Bet in my stacks I've pretty much got them all covered. ;)

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'm getting ready to place an order so I'm trying to get all the essentials. Any other input would be great! Cardaddy- while I'm not trying to get by with the minimum, I would like to avoid spending 1k on MF's!!

That's what my wife thought too!
(And that photo doesn't have all of them, still more bins on the cart, in my car, and a load in the washer.)

You can do pretty much anything you need to do with the 360's and the 530's. Especially if you have some oversized 530's laying around. :)

if you want to keep it simple and are going to purchase from AG, just buy a dozen of the gold plush jr's. they are versatile and can be used for multiple tasks...
